The minx is a 1960 Serries IIIc with a genuine 43K ish miles on the clock. I've owned it for about 20 years and knew the old boy who had it before me ( he was a genuine "take it out on sundays for a run, wipe it down, then put it back in the garage again for a week" type). Its not been out much the last 3-4 years I'm afraid, so when I got it out on Sunday I found brakes not working and the gen light permanantly on. (makes you wonder how these things happen when its stood in a dry garage!).

The Triumph GT6 MKII at the back is in serious need of a respray (belongs to number 1 son, just garaged here) - I left off number 2 sons the smart car and Corsa! (I wouldn't mind, but ony two of us at home drive  :) )

Thanks for the nice comments
Pat

Ha.... you'd be surpised how many people 'of a certain age' say "Hillman minx - I did my 'courting in one of those". Perhaps I should start a business, "hire a passion wagon and re-live your youth" The front bench seat in the Minx is certainly a benefit in that area  ;)

Pat

and for anyone below 40 here is the dictionary definition of courting!
Noun 1. courtship - a man's courting of a woman; seeking the affections of a woman (usually with the hope of marriage); "it was a brief and intense courtship"

I bought one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEALEY-Torque-Wrench-Micrometer-Style-3-8-Drive-7-112Nm_W0QQitemZ160114983642QQihZ006QQcategoryZ30917QQcmdZViewItem on Markies advice and its a good torque wrench for many jobs on the Omega. I also bought a set of 3 draper converters for about £7 to give me all 3 drive size options

Have a look at the original thread http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1178878761/9#9

I used Goodyear Eagle F1's for a few years, but have changed to Michelin Primacy and am impressed with them, especially in the wet.

General Discussion Area / Torque Wrench Advice Please
« on: 11 May 2007, 11:19:21 »
Hi All
I'm trying to kit myself out to become self sufficient on repairs. I'm currently looking at Torque wrenches. There appear to ba a wide variety of types and prices, so rather than learn by doing, I was wondering if there are any recommnedations from the group regarding

1. The most useful in terms of range (e.g. 8 - 150 NM etc), or do I need several to cover the range.
2. The best manufacturer/ supplier  regards price performance (e.g. Halfords do 2 range variants, but they ar £50 each - is this about the right price?)
3. Good online stockists

Thanks Pat
