sump help
« on: 05 October 2016, 21:01:05 »

I recently advertised on gumtree for assistance & help with renewing a sump gasket on my td, and also other jobs. knowing I would have to remove the balance pump to put the gasket in situ I made sure it was set at tdc & then locked ( cam , crank & injector pump ) before I removed anything. the guy who answered my request at first seemed ok & on completion as payment I gave him an old car with 7mths mot on it. there are 4, 13mm bolts on the td that go from the gear-box side through the bell housing into the sump. I handed the guy the bolts & a ratchet to do them. today I discovered none had been put in. the reason being the sump & the bell- housing are not quite lined up, so he,s just proceeded to bolt the sump up.  I'm hoping that can get enough slack on the sump bolts without completely removing them so I am able to twist it round the mm or so its out to get the 4 bolts in as they should be. I just wished I had checked before i signed the old car over to him. >:( >:(

would have to remove

I slackened all bolts & when I was doing the last one the sump literally fell into situ . the 4 bolts went easily in & I tightened up to correct torque. jobs a goodn.   :y :y

I'm staggered you expected a good service from Gumtree, place is full of scammers.
