Is not dead!  :y

The BBC announced his death at lunchtime yesterday, but apparently he's still alive although critically ill.  ::)  Auntie Beeb was a tad premature!  ;D

A radio DJ on BBC since before radio was invented. You would have though they would have bothered to check whether their longest serving employee was dead before announcing that he was, to the nation.
Unbelievable !

Just read that Tim Pigott-Smith died today age 70. Always a good performer IMO, RIP Tim.

Funny old thing. The BBC incorrectly announce the death of one of its own employees, yet not a word either of apology or discussion in the radio 'news' programs (Five live breakfast, Jeremy Vine etc.) If any other organisation had made such a faux par, Nicky Campbell and Jeremy Vine would be down their throat.

Brian Mathews 'sound of the sixties was a great program, and demonstrated his deep knowledge of the industry. Tim Rice made a very good stand in while he was ill. Now that Tony Blackburn has taken over the role (nothing against him, but he's wrong for that particular program), they've shunted it to the 6 am slot! and moved patronising Dermot o Leary into the 8am slot.

Not that I have a strong personal opinion on any of this   ::)
