Cutting out

Hello all. My car cuts out every now and then when coming to a stop or shortly after starting. It had been laid up for 8 months and I have just done the camcover gaskets. Any ideas? there is no juddering it drives smoothly but cuts out all of a sudden at traffic lights etc or when reversing into a parking space. It starts again straight away  :-/

Have you got any fault codes out of it?

Could it be the ICV?

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

I have got the same problem, Just checked and my fault code is 19 which I beleive is the crank sensor starting to break down.

I was going to say crank sensor but the OP says it happens when coming to a stop or just after starting, which would be low revs, so I thought ICV at first.

However, get some codes out of it and it should be easier to find the problem.

Its an easy fix but fiddley more than anything. On trade club its about £39 + vat. I have a post up as well so just waiting for the replies.

Just Paper clipped it. Yup Code 19. Just bought a replacement sensor. Is it an easy fit? one for one swap, or is there anything to look out for?  :y

It is the one job I haven't done yet on my car in nearly ten glorious years of ownership.

There are I believe two types of sensor, the small difference being the plug shape that joins the loom. The other end with the sensor fits into a hole near the oil filter and is held in place by a small bolt. presumably you bought the right one with chassis/eng no's.

The secret of success (apparently) when fitting is to route it out of the way of heat and oil. No easy matter when you see where it is. I believe that the VX garages often just cut the old one and then instal the new one.
