Don't let the fact a car has headlight washers make you assume it has Xenons. All older Elites and plod cars have headlight washers, but Xenons were only introduced on mini-facelift cars.

In certain markets the headlight washers would be either be available separately. The current Astra for example - many have headlight washers but very few have Xenons. However, all Focuses with headlight washers have Xenons - if that makes sense.

The headlight leveller control is probably the best way of telling.

easiest way i found is turn them on, standard halogen light straight away instant, HID`s also light up but you can tell the ballst box has charged them as they take just a fraction longer to reach full brightness
