Title: East Midlands
Post by: Guinney1971 on 29 December 2011, 20:22:13
is there owt happening in the East Midlands ref an OOF gathering in the New Year?

I'm going to a Vauxhall Meet at Donington on 22nd Jan with the VODC/Ex-Vecs people - shall I see if there's space for the OOF there too?

There used to be a joint ABS/OOF monthly meet near Donnington a couple of years back, but it slowly dried up due to lack of turnout  :'(

Yeah, I went to one of the ones at the services, but decided not to go again due to the distance from here - more time travelling than at meet itself. Never went to the pub one.

I've been told "the more the merrier" ref Donington, so here's the gist:

Its basically here:  http://www.donington-park.co.uk/about-donington/the-donington-grand-prix-collection/

and its 22nd January 2012.

Admission prices are on the weblink.

Anyone interested?  We'll probably go, as its only 20 mins down the M1 for us.  We'll take Morticia (my new 'Mega) and Nuke (last Cavalier built at Luton) as long as the weather is ok.  The museum is really good at Donington, I've not been for about 6 years tho, last time I went was when the Renault World Series Gala evening was there in 2005.

I must admit, £16 + Fuel for 2 cars + lunch + possibility of crap weather is putting me off a tad...............  but we'll see how things are nearer the date  :)

cool!!!  well with the VODC lot and ex-Vecs guys going too, then this should be a good meet up  :)

I saw the GP collection at Donington a few years ago, it was very impressive, and is well worth a visit.

that could be useful, I've been told that if I fit a cruise control stalk on my car, I'll need tech 2 to make it work  :)

No Tech2 required, but you need all the actuator, cables etc, as per the guide.  2.0l cruise cables are reasonably rare.

I think the plan is to park up at the on site museum itself, I'll find out some more details, theres a few Vx clubs going, so should be a good day out if the weather holds out  :)

just had this from 'veci35' on the VODC to my question about whats happening on Sunday:

well that is a good question as i have no real numbers yet, we (the ex-vecs) are having a b-day bash the night before so i thought how's about going to do something the day after and it turned out this seemed a decent idea, it Its just an informal gathering / meet and i thought it would be an idea to open up to other clubs. The option of going into the museum is yours, personaly i am going in as i have never been in, there is a cafe for hot food / drinks etc, we as in the ex-vec's lot are aiming to be there for around 11.30 - 12.00 is that suits all...

I'll find out about parking, and let you know  :)

actually went round the circuit before it had tarmac on it, with my brother in a mini, was rather hard going on stone. :D

lol, I've driven the DeLorean round the circuit in the wet (and still on Yank tyres!  :o ) and the grip was amazing even in those conditions.

Apparantly parking arrangements (so far) are the main car-park.

So I guess its a case of when you turn up, look for a large random selection of Vauxhall's and join in! lol
