Gearbox selector switch
« on: 19 January 2007, 09:56:44 »

I'm looking at replacing the selector switch on the side of my gearbox, but I'm not buying one brand new as they're too expensive.

My question is, are they all the same? I've seen one on ebay from a 2001 Omega, and the auction says it will fit an AR35, but I just wanted to check first.

Have you removed the existing one, opened it up and cleaned it...?

No. I wanted to just do a straight swap in case mine fell apart when I took it off and it meant I was stuck without my car  ::)

I second-hand will only cost about a tenner anyway. I just wanted to check if all the selector switches on the AR35 gearbox were the same.

You're not wrong on "main steeler" being too expensive.
Mine threw a wobbly 3 yrs ago.
£30 for diagnostic (to confirm what I had told them was wrong)
£140 for switch
£260 for labour.

They should all wear masks and black & white striped jumpers !!  The phrase "lick my left one !!" came to mind.

Local auto box specialist did it all for £140, with a couple of other jobs included in the price.
