Even data for the CCRT700 seems rare on the internet - strange how it seems to be East European sites - why I wonder?

Hi, has anyone got any information on this system? I've been looking for connector info on the internet & can only find sites in German, Polish & Russian! Was it fitted to UK Omegas?
Thanks, Ian

Does anyone know if this unit has a CD-changer socket?
I'm interested in wiring in an ipod interface, but don't want to remove the unit just to find out that it doesnt have the connector....

I've found the brochure that I picked up - it's £80 from Vx (so must be cheaper elsewhere?) & is connected via the cd changer socket

Don't bother with the FM senders - everyone I've tried has always ended up hissing or picking up some interference. On the old Omega I fitted a Sony head unit with an Aux connector on the front panel - not perfect - but great sound! The new Omega has the Bose unit - so I want to keep it - see my other post

I was in a VX main dealer on Tuesday (trying) to buy oil filters when I noticed a brochure for accessories - in it there is an adaptor to hard wire an Ipod into the standard unit on condition that it has a CD changer facility (ie a socket on the back). From memory it was about £70 (may be mistaken here).
Does anyone know if the CCRT2008 fitted to the 2000 Elite has a changer facility apart from the 4 stack built into the head unit?

Omega General Help / Facelift mirrors differences?
« on: 22 December 2008, 12:24:40 »
I've just repainted a "new" right hand mirror for my 2001 2.5TD. When I came to swap them over, I found that the new mirror has only 5 wires on the connector compared with 9 on the old one. what is the difference in operation of the two mirrors, can I fit the new one for the time being, and does anyone have a 9-wire one lying around please? Thanks, Ian

I've got a "new" mirror to replace one that was destroyed by an idiot on a country lane. Problem is that the new one is the wron colour. Can anyone advise how to remove all the plastic in order to respray please?

Thanks, Ian

Omega General Help / Re: Wheel alignment

I agree that is sounds like your local tyre dealer is a waste of space.
After doing my wishbones & struts last weekend, took the car to a GOOD local tyre dealer & they did a full 4 wheel geometry with before and after print outs (even tho I didn't buy any tyres).
They did comment that the price would depend on how easy it was to get things unsiezed - luckily it all moved without a problem!

The problem with the pump seems to be that at tickover the engine runs "lumpy" - this is generally an electrical track inside the pump - Omegatoy seems to be the expert on this one - hopefully he can shed some more light on this - one of my Omegas has this problem - I have a new pump ready to be fitted but have been too busy to get round to it yet - it only gives me a problem in town & 99% of my driving is long-distance motorway work.

To reply to your post on the 27th - you need to have the engine running while you mess around with the connector - and yes I think it is the main loom connector.
Of course it might be that you have another problem... :-/

The EGR valve is between the inlet manifold & the black plastic moulding that runs across the front of the engine bay. The connector in question on mine (if that is what you're looking for) is mounted somewhere on the side of the battery mount - you'll need a good light to find it - all is black down there. The connector is in plastic, has a black plastic cover, the body is maybe 2inch diameter & if you look very closely is marked BMW.
On mine, I find that if the EML starts flashing (and the cruise control cuts out), all I have to do is stop, give the connector a good tug/push & I'm off again for a few hundred miles.

Can you positively identify which relay is buzzing?

My TD has an intermittent EML - it started about 5 years ago(!) - had it checked by an Opel dealer and they came up with no errors/problems. I later found that it is due to a bad contact in the plastic connector (BMW made!) located near/behind the EGR valve on the LHS of the car (looking forward). This connector is quite difficult to see, it is the main loom to/from the engine - once you find it give it a tug whilst someone else watches the EML - if the EML goes out with in sequence with the movements, you've found your culprit! (mine tends to come on on deceleration - I think that the torque reaction of the engine is making it move slightly on its mounts & that puts a little strain on the connector). If it is this, don't panic, I have run mine for approx 200k km like this with no problems - the only noticeable thing is that occasionally on idle the engine doesn't feel 100% smooth.
