Facelift mirrors differences?
« on: 22 December 2008, 12:24:40 »

I've just repainted a "new" right hand mirror for my 2001 2.5TD. When I came to swap them over, I found that the new mirror has only 5 wires on the connector compared with 9 on the old one. what is the difference in operation of the two mirrors, can I fit the new one for the time being, and does anyone have a 9-wire one lying around please? Thanks, Ian

9 Wire ones are for the Elite (they link to the seat position ECU).

The mirror will still work as in up/down/left/right and should have a heated mirror glass, it just won't move with the memory preselect buttons on the seat.

If you want the Elite motor you'll have to swap the loom as well which involves stripping the pins from the plug and feeding them through the tube in the hinged part.
