Omega General Help / Oil leak .....
« on: 20 October 2013, 00:27:52 »
Noticed this a while ago, but haven't got round to investigating yet  :-[
Wherever it's coming from, it's gathering on the lower right, adjacent to the air on pump. Might actually be the same as TB's leak?
I'll be having a closer look soon, but thought I'd ask for some pointers in case someone has come across this problem before.
Also noticed low coolant level and a 'puddle' on the plastic under tray  >:( I think it's coming from one of the extra pipes for the lpg so I'll have to check that too, but it should be an easy fix  ::)
There always something  :D

General Car Chat / Stag kit on the bay
« on: 02 October 2013, 20:17:12 »
Been looking at the Stag lpg kits on the bay to replace the apparently non functioning kit I have installed  :-[
Just found out though that they don't come with software or data lead. On contact I'm told the software can be downloaded from a given site, and the lead is available elsewhere for £40.
I'm guessing this is standard procedure maybe, but are there other options for purchase where it would all come complete?
Hoping to be in a position to buy at the end of October so trying to suss out the options now  :y
Cheers.

Brilliant. Just need to sort out the lpg and a few cosmetics  ::)

Oh, and talk swmbo into letting me do the jobs and keep the car  :o

General Car Chat / BMW 3 series GT .....
« on: 04 September 2013, 00:53:19 »
One of these passed me on the road today. It was a demonstrator, in grey, on a 13 plate. First I've seen and I'm not a fan to be honest, but it did give me a laugh -
The last three letters of the reg were YUK  ;D

Quite apt I thought  :D

General Car Chat / Shock changing guide
« on: 26 August 2013, 23:33:45 »
Just been having a look at this excellent guide.
Actually seems pretty straight forward, so I may have a go myself after all  ::)
Expected it to be a long, drawn out and awkward process, and although I think an hour each side is pushing it, it would certainly be another satisfying job  :y

Anyone planning on going in the near future?
I have a voucher for £30 which I bought / exchanged nectar points for through sainsburys which I didn't use.
Only valid until the end of September but thought I'd see if anyone could use it before it goes in the bin.
£30 is the full retail price for adult entry 'on the day'.
Just a thought .........

General Car Chat / 1222 miles ....
« on: 18 August 2013, 21:06:39 »
... on the road, and home again  :)

Omega never missed a beat, even when fully loaded, and a stupid roofbox on top  :y
Pity I hadn't got the lpg working but hey, not the end of the world.
Had a great time in Disney, London, Bicester and Manchester, and to put the icing on the cake, met a few fellow OOFers along the way  :y

Omega General Help / First gas - some issues
« on: 04 August 2013, 13:27:14 »
Finally got the (2nd hand) lpg kit fitted   :)
When I first started the car up again on petrol, and manually switched to gas, the red light on the level indicator came on, and the car cut out. I presumed this was because there was no gas, and saw it as a positive sign?
Got some gas into last night - £10 worth at 79.9 p/l - and drove to work. There was no switchover at any point, although I only drove a few miles from that point. On the drive home, about 12 miles in this case, there was still no switchover, so I used the manual button on the level indicator. It showed a green flashing light at the lowest point on the scale, indicating at least there was some gas, but there was no other indication that I was running on gas. The green light is fluctuating with red, and I'm guessing that either £10 is just enough to bring the tank out of the red, or the tank angle needs adjusted.
As recently pointed out, second hand kits may not be a wise idea, and although I trust the source of this one and it was taken from the same engine as mine, there is currently no diagnostic lead to make any 'enquiry'.
This is the indicator, but it is not Stag system so I appreciate ideas may be limited  :-\

Omega General Help / Lambda sensor wiring for lpg ....
« on: 29 July 2013, 08:49:47 »
There seems to be more than two plain blue wires in the X85 loom. Two at the top and at least one underneath.
Is this the case?
Or do I need to go to specsavers  ;D ::)

General Car Chat / Lpg on a ferry?
« on: 23 July 2013, 14:33:12 »
Not strictly speaking!
Are there conditions, or more importantly prohibitions, in relation to taking an lpg'd car onto a ferry?
I'm trying to contact the actual carrier ( Stena in this case) but thougt I'd ask in case anyone had any previous experience.

TIA  :y

General Car Chat / Aircon compressor guide
« on: 18 July 2013, 22:27:55 »
Big thanks to Hotel21 for the most recent guide  :y
Hoping to get mine looked at again next week. Not convinced this is the problem but if it is, then I'll maybe have an idea how to sort it  :y
Almost worth changing the seals anyway I guess, just to rule that out  :(

General Car Chat / Failed the test
« on: 10 July 2013, 12:57:05 »
Not the Omega, the 206.
It's a bitter sweet thing - bitter that it didn't pass, but often sweet as the failure list could be extensive!
On this occasion I'm a bit disappointed but no point in worrying about it. So having paid £30.50 for the initial, full test, I've now to pay a further £18.50 for the retest. And the failure items?
Just the one ........ offside headlight bulb defective  :-X

Omega General Help / Vapouriser location?
« on: 03 July 2013, 20:20:26 »
Took the front bumper off tonight with the intention of fitting the vapouriser in front of the drivers wheel. Unfortunately found that there was already a component taking up the space. Haven't identified it yet, but that can wait.
Anyway, there was still some room, but on each trial fitting I found it fouled the bumper, or more specifically, the foglight housing. There is a single position which accomodates it, but I think it is a little low, possibly just level with the bottom of the bumper. Probably not a good idea.
It's a little big to fit onto the inner wing as in the guide, and although I think it would probably fit above the horns on the passenger side of the bumper, that would require major work to route the pipes, etc.
So, any suggestions where I could fit the vap? It is quite large tbh. The bagpipes, etc are removed so I'm not sure there would be sufficient space at the floor, almost below the alternator, which was my second thought  :-\

Edit: It's not the s/l pump is it?

Omega General Help / Aircon woe
« on: 28 June 2013, 16:25:22 »
Thought I'd finally got the aircon sorted at the start of the month with full recharge and new pressure valve fitted. It was running brilliantly ever since ..... until today  :'(

The blower engages, etc but the air is warm ish. Certainly not cold. The ECO button is cooler. This is the same as it was before it was 'fixed' but surely it can't be the valve or gas so soon?
I'll take it back to Vx next week but is there anything that I can physically check myself in the meantime?
