power upgrade.
« on: 16 January 2007, 19:16:24 »

Does anyone know how much more horse power can be expected from a chip power upgrade e.g superchip for the 2.5 petrol and how much they cost. I think the standard power is about 175.

Stanadard is 168Bhp....a chip upgrade should yield 5-10 Bhp (use an Mtek Performance chip!)

Best upgrade is to it a set of 3.0 cams......worth 20Bhp!

That sounds good. How do they do it ? Higher lift or just different profile altogether?

The extra lift is less than 1mm so it must be a longer duration and hence different profile.....easy enough to source, normaly around the 100 quid mark for a set of 4.

The power for pound ratio is good even with the spanner weilding. The power chips are'nt really worth the expense by the sounds of it.
Any idea how much more power can be squeezed out of the 3.0 litre engines without spending £000's.
