Key fob switches

One of my key fobs has 3 knackered switches

Little rubber ones, they do not make contact.

ANy idea how easy to replace or where I can get them from

I have tried replacing mine and found it next to impossible. They are surface mount type and the contact area with the circuit board is minute. You need a very fine point temperature soldering iron and a magnifying glass... oh, and three hands. :-/

I did a post entitled 'simple repair for key fob' about 6 weeks ago. Basically, I packed the space behind the battery with card to press the contacts back into position and it works well, but I've since done one with more 'springy' thin packaging plastic to equally good effect. No problems with either, and the 'repair' was free.
I shied away from attempting a soldered repair. Ask Loo-Knee. I think he ruined a fob trying it with unsuitable equipment.

get a replacement fob from ebay and get it programmed if it cannot be soldered...

My switches didn't work when pressed out of the fob.

Will attempt new switches I think

I think RS do them.......although they are through hole ones the legs can be bent so they are the same as the surface mount types.

Shame yours is a Megamos. I have a Delphi one bought in error that you'd have been welcome to.

That is similar - I'll check Maplins for something like it, all three switches are knacked but  if you short them the remote works!

Thats expensive....we pay 1.6p for them and 0.09p for a resistor.....trouble is all teh manufacturing is outsourced now so I cant get hold of any!

It will be a fully automated production line somewhere (hence labout costs have little impact) knocking out 1 a second....

LOL The best I ccan do is make a machine label cans of beanz/spag/etc at 800 cans per minute!  ;D

Lol....out latest pick and place machines fit 5 components a second......and they can be big components.

Each item is collected from a tape and reel or waffle tray, inspected by a camera for orientation etc and then placed exactly where required......ut can even test the component value but this slows the process down.......so it does that lot 5 times a second.....very good to watch.

Yes, not seen a modern pick and place in action. Last pick and place I saw took3 or 4s per component.  5 per sec must look impressive :y

Back when we used to have mobile phone manufacturing in the UK I used to visit the factories occasionally. It's truly incredible what can be achieved by these machines. Only thing that let them down were the few human steps involved in the line :-X

UPDATE

Got the inside out, managed to dismantle and clean the inside of the two door switches, (boot worked)

I have a working keyfob
