  Hi,
Just an idea but have you tried disconnecting the battery(making sure you have relevant radio codes) wait a bit(30 secs.)and then switching on as soon as you reconnect :question.

    Hope this helps,
                          Pete :y.

Sounds like the power sounder is getting confused to me. Do you get the full-on alarm with an electrinic siren sound, horn sound and flashing indicators or is it just the electronic siren?

Mine has just died, built-in batteries leaked all over the circuit board giving a few weeks of wierd behavior before it finally packed up. I'd try disconnecting the power sounder (under scuttle cover, driver's side, just behind the suspension turret).

Sounds a bit like mine. It went through a phase of triggering the main alarm about 15 mins after I parked it up. Then it started doing the 4 pips when ignition turned on. Then it went off and refused to silence a couple of times. Only thing that would silence it is to start the engine, let it run for a few mins to stabilise and then stop it.

Definately a dodgy power sounder. Take it out and cut around the seam to open it up. If it's not beyond saving it will be possible to change the batteries and glue it back together.

See if you can pick up Haynes from ebay. Like most modern Haynes, bit crap, but worth having....

LOL... it came back.... and then stopped again!!

I drained the battery last week(music whilst I worked out in the garden) and had to recharge it.... this may have caused the problem in the first place. If it gets any worse I'll just disconnect the battery as suggested above.

The power sounders don't last forever. My late 2002 one has just failed. Could be that draining the main battery was the last straw for the internal battery which will have been pretty weak anyway.

I'd say take the power sounder out. You'll still have an alarm but without the full thatcham functionality as it will rely on the vehicle battery for charge. Leave it in and you never know what its' next trick will be ::)
