As in the title what would I need to get this upgrade fitted.
As mine is a 97P would I need to do many mods to get it to work.
Any responses would be most appreciated.
Cheers in advance

I may go ahead with the upgrade, I know where I can get my hands on a stalk but the rest I shall have to have a look about for.
Would you say this is a mod worth having reason why I ask is I dont really do alot of motorway driving.
-
I generally do about 600 miles a week mostly on motorway and I find that unless its the early hours and the motorway is clear that cruise control is a waist of time

Cheers for the response Elite Pete
Been thinking about it myself and the only times I have been on the motorway as of late I have been stuck in traffic, may give this a miss for the moment.
Nice to know it can be done but I think I will wait.
-
I find it essential given the number of speed cameras these days.....set it to 40 in a forty zone and away you go.
One of the best mods you can do.....

Never thought of that, makes sense

Yep, I'm with Mark on this one. I never use mine on the motorway, but in 30 or 40 limits, stick it on and you don't have to worry about your speed creeping up, which in an Omega is hard to notice.
-
Well you both have sold on the plus's of getting it done, its just a case of funds and the bits to do it so may take a little while but will definately look into getting it fitted.
Cheers

Cruise brake switch

Don't forget the ECU!
I use my cruise all the time. It is invaluable for long stretches of heavily speed restricted roads though!! 8-)

ECU does it need to be enabled or something.
-
It's a seperate box AFAIK, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.
The later models were controlled by the engine ECU, but IIRC, there's another ECU to control the actuator.
-
Slightly off topic - but does cruise control apply the brakes?
I have set mine to the limit in restricted areas, then rolled down a hill and seen it creep up by almost 10mph...

No. I think common sense must prevail in that case!!! ;D

Alrighty then!! :-[

Would the Elite cruise control setup work on a 2.0 only not seen many 2.0 cdx about being broken with the cruise on it.
-
They are not engine or trim specific (CDx and Elite had it as standard)....so any actuator based cruise system (which is most of them) will work......even the one off a Vectra will work but the cable may need changing!

Shall keep an eye out for an Elite thats being broken up.
With any luck I will be able to get all the parts needed.
-
If you get a 2.0 cruise unit then I believe it will need reprogramming if used on a V6 and vice versa. It's to do with the engine speed signal. The cruise will actually work, but the lower speed limit for cruise will be wrong.
The cable is different for the 3.0, 2.5, Vectra 2.5 and 2.0 so try to get the right cable. They cost about £50 from the dealer.
The cruise actuator is the same across quite a few Vx models.
I have a long commute and use cruise every day. I find it excellent and it allows you to stretch your legs.

Shall keep an eye out and try to get the right parts if not possible shall just go direct to Vx and get the right length cable.

Oh and watch Ebay. A complete cruise kit can be had from about £40 to £70.
But the clutch switch (if you have a manual) is a pain. They're quite rare secondhand and cost about £19 from the dealer. You might also need a 4 wire brake switch, another £13 or so.

Shall definately keep an eye out on ebay for a kit, I maybe lucky.
Clutch switch heard a few people mention these, may just go to the dealer when the time comes.
Brake switch again maybe lucky if not dealer it will be.
Has anyone got any pictures or part numbers of the Clutch switch and Brake switch for future reference.
Cheers in advance

i use mine all the time, A roads and motorway....
I find i can get at least 5mpg more at 75mph when cruise is on, and it is more relaxing.....
In the process of fitting cruise to my Mk2 cav

yup, agree with Marks_DTM on this one, wouldn't whant to be without it. Great for keeping to 30mph in those long villages....
