It's rotten and needs mechanical work. Which means it's ready for the next stage in its life: an appointment with the crusher.

He has basically replaced the entire engine management system and last report was that it had been MoT'd.  ???

i agree with mr dg here. if you like the car why give up on it especially now ?
itsallmot'd now and there wasnt major rust found. compared to some .
what would you replace it withnow that would give same levels of driving pleasure and comfort ?
except maybee a v6 version.

This is the one the MOT place was going to weld and pass MOT for £100
but the OP took it else where to be prodded n poked
I advised getting the £100 welding done ,so it had MOT and then take it to be thoroughly assessed at his leisure   ::)
