Throttle body port polish .
« on: 11 April 2012, 18:36:01 »

Anyone on here done the port polish ? I was considering doing this together with blanking off the EGR , anyone seen any smoother power delivery or increases in performance in any way  ;)

I'd also leave EGR alone on the V6 - they are reliable :y

Hi james , ive been reading the port polish guide on here and i might have it wrong but my reading was the EGR is feeding crap into the throttle bodies and gooing them up ..was only considering it and polishing the throttle body lip  ;)

I wouldn't port and polish the throttle body, its a waste of time and effort but I would blank off the EGR valve. You can buy a blanking plate from Vauxhall for a few quid, I believe its the same one as fitted to the Astra ;)

Im starting to tidy up the engine bay and was going to get a used throttle body and work on that in spare time just for tinkering purposes then polish up the alloy parts that are fairly grimey  :)

Vast majority of gunk in the plenum and throttle body is from the breathers.

(...and no we don't to blank those off )

Next time your in there have a look at the plenum internals. It's oily cooked on brown gunk. Although I suppose the egr would help the cooking process.

Plus, you'll find the exact same gunk on a 3.2 which has no...

...hang on. The 3.2 doesn't have an EGR. ;D
