Stalling Auto problem
« on: 27 October 2008, 17:17:09 »

Went out in the car today and got to my destination, car cut out at a junction as I went to set off. Restarted and it was a bit hesistant. Used the trick of holding it on the brake and building the revs up. Without doing that it stalls. Tickover warm is 750 rpm and drops a bit when D is engaged.

Got home OK using that method and have just cleaned the IACV in case that is causing the problem. It seems OK now - just done half a dozen stop starts but perhaps it was a hot engine problem (though temp gauge was fine_.

Anything to worry about? I also think it is missing at low revs but sounds fine when revved. It runs OK too. I guess I am just expecting another calamity.

it was normal on my old car, used to clean icv every 2 or 3 months when the idle started to play up. Might be worth a paper clip test just to be sure you dont have a 19 crank sensor code. But sounds like classic icv issue to me. So in other words, its normal.

ICV mate - just give it a good clean out with carb cleaner and lightly oil.
