Hi,
My apologies for not asking the right question about these wires.
I am trying to understand how to turn off the parking sensors when I am towing.
I understand that these wires are part of the parking sensor system but I do not know what I need to do to achieve this.
Any help gratefully received.

If the towbar has been correctly wired, I'm sure this should disable parking sensors?

//edit: just checked, it does.

Get the idiots who fitted towbar to do it properly :P

Unplug the ECU when towing? Fit an inline switch?  All these are manual options, whereas the car loom is designed to take this into effect, disabling fog lights, reversing lights and parking sensors when something is plugged into the towing electrics.

Fit an inline switch on the Red wire from reversing lights to the Park Pilot ECU.

I bet the idiots used scotchlocks as well  >:(

You could try to fix the wiring that the cowboys did, but from memory, it needs a different socket.

Just to throw a spanner in the works... Surely if those wires pictured aren't connected to anything the OP doesn't have Park Pilot fitted and they're aftermarket too :-\ ???

i will do when i get round to that end of car, got to remove towbar at some point to fit washers to the fixings as idiots used a hole cutter to drop inserts through to chassis so the boot floortakes none of the load and towbar twists, could be a interesting fix

They should drill a hole large enough for the inserts only and there should be a spreader plate over the top ;)

yeah but the inserts should be sandwiched between the floor and chassis rails, mine can be dropped in the top hole and fall out the bottom

Grim :(

Looks like you're looking at inline switch as previously suggested...  ...or turn radio up ;D

Shame whoever fitted the towbar saved a few quid going pattern.

Yes very grim.

As suggested in line switch, will have a look again at wiring and wiring diagram at weekend!
Not easy though as colours on wiring diagram do not match whats on my car.

I know I should not have started this but its not going to get the better of me :)

Up Date
Fitted a relay onto the parking sensors speaker wires and wired up the spare pins in the auxiliary socket on the caravan
All works fine and no sound when reversing with caravan attached.
A VERY HAPPY ME  :) :) :) :)
