Yeh, yeH! whatevR!!  ;D ;D ;D

Serisouly though, techincally we do no handset testing.

Detecting a handset type off a wapsite is still in its infancy. Say you hit our site on a N95... there are loads of different types of the N95, different firmware, and so on.

Some handsets (Sony Ericsson) are the worst, tell us sooo much, even what applications are install on your phone!  :o

Others say nothing.

Our handset detection is basic, we just take the screen resolution using WURFL lookup...

We then have a series of image sizes for banners.... we have about 11 set types of resolutions, catering for most phones. Each set type folder contains the images at a specifc site.

eg 170x208....

Its an issue we need to address.

I got this e-mail this morning:

PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY.

Do not charge your mobile phone the whole night and DON'T keep it near you while charging.  IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY!

I HOPE YOU'RE NOT DOING THIS!!! Never, ever answer a cell phone while it is being RECHARGED!! A few days ago, a person was recharging his cell phone at home. Just at that time, a call came in and he answered it with the instrument still connected to the outlet. After a few seconds, electricity flowed into the cell phone unrestrained and the young man was thrown to the ground with a heavy thud. His parents rushed to the room only to find him unconscious, with a weak heartbeat and burnt fingers.

He was rushed to the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Cell phones are a very useful modern invention. However, we must be aware that it can also be an instrument of death. Never use the cell phone while it is hooked to the electrical outlet!

FORWARD THIS TO THE PEOPLE THAT MATTER IN YOUR LIFE .

The mail came with a few pics showing charred bedclothes, melted phone and burned fingers (ugh!).  :o

I know there are quite a few mobile-savvy folks on here. Any comments?

Some mobiles really explode..Happened here (seen in news) several times burning the hands , faces etc..

Also hear about exploding laptop batteries !

Yes, Nokia had issues with exploding SONY batteries, and most laptop manufacturers had problems with SONY batteries.  I can see a pattern here ::)

But any email that says forward to everyone should be discarded.
