Searching property with a Double garage.
« on: 04 June 2013, 09:37:38 »

Just browsing the area on right move. What a pita finding a house with a usable Double garage! :-\

Alot have been converted into rooms or partly blocked off for storage space.

What would you look for in your next house/location...?

Built a deck at the bottom of the garden for exactly that reason, as the sun moves round the side of the house.

Ours is completely in the shade by around 5pm  :'( ..... you could sit in the sun in the front garden on full view of the street if you wanted to.  ???

This is prompted by another house of the same layout selling for about 50k more than we has been told ours was worth.

We knew the valuation was wrong, but 50k....?  :o

I'd want a quiet location but amenities reasonably close by, a drive for 3/4 cars and a garage to work on them :y

Oh an a good loft for the train layout! :y

Double garage was top of my list. :y

Managed to tick all the other boxes in the process too. An astroturf garden would have been nice, though. ::)

Any man who comes under pressure to convert his garage to a guest bedroom needs to grow a pair and regain control of the household trousers. FFS! ::)

You're right though, looking around for properties with garages in my (our) area seems to mean you jump from 'regular person' money to 'mega rich' money as all the 'regular person' houses have turned the garages into rooms, and that's before you go looking for double garages that are rare as rocking horse dung :(

I found a house with enough room for a triple garage, then bought three 20' "link container" buildings from the bay. - can't get a car in, but insulated, lights, a water boiler + sink+ radiators, windows...
Best 2K I ever spent.

An astroturf garden would have been nice, though. ::)

It wouldn't be on the side of a mountain again............ >:(
I've half an acre up at the back of the garden that I cant get a machine or vehicle onto ,come to think of it I haven't walked on it for three years .
I built a large double garage but would build an even bigger outbuilding on that land if I could .
It'd be flat land for me..... :)

Thera a few out past Tadley towards Newbury way. But that's a commutes passed the three worst junctions on the m4 this side if the m25.

Currently looking Crowthorne/Sandhurst way. A few but don't like the house that comes with it. :(

Hot to be well away from Flood plane too. :-\
