sun screen
« on: 28 July 2013, 20:23:49 »

Bit late now I know summer is ended  8) but what is the best sun screen for the windshield?  I bought one from the pound store which is Ok (considering the cost) but i'd like one that is larger, more rigid and fits the mig windscreen better.

Never use one in the Omega. I use the rear blind, then let the A/C sort it out on hot days.

They do make a difference, but are a bit of a pain to keep friggin with.  Had one for the Rover (no A/C), but rarely used it due to the faffage involved all the time.

If its hot, I just go to the car few minutes earlier, open windows. Drive for a bit, then windows up and A/C on.

Heat reflective windscreens seem to improve the situation, which is why i'll be transferring the one on my DTi to A N other car when I've had a chat with the local independent screen fitter.

+1 . Had mine 2 yrs now and they do make a difference , i have to sit in the car most of the time so its a welcome relief without keeping the engine on for the a/c which is gasless  :-[

Apologies I should have said 'sun shield for the windscreen' not 'sun screen for the windshield'.  ;)

I take the points about them being a faff to put up, my £1 one is.  In fact this is why I posted - I want one that is more rigid and fits the area better and so will be much less faff.    So those that have good ones where did you get them?

They do definitely work, even the cheap ones.

I found the £1 one very good quality , so far nothing has worn on it . Couple of seconds to fit to the screen and job done  :y Dont know the quality of this item but it is for 2  :-\

Solved this today thanks to Tescos selling off half decent sun screens for 38p each.  Bought two, they are too small on their own but I custom cut one and stuck it to the other with spray adhesive.  Now I have an exact fitting sunscreen for the windshield sunshield for the windscreen.   So now the summer is officially over. :'(
