Buzzing noise
« on: 17 July 2006, 09:46:41 »

Morning guys

Noticed a weird sort of buzzing noise coming from under the bonnet yesterday (and no, I haven't got an infestation of wasps or bees! ;D). Opened bonnet for closer inspection and it appeared to be coming from the plenum area. Revving the engine made it stop and start but back at idle it's there all the time. Otherwise, engine is running pure as silk.

Any ideas anyone?

Possible manifold leak could cause a popping noise but not sure with regards buzzing.

Defo not manifold leak - really hard to describe but buzzing is the closest word I can think of to describe it. Doesn't sound serious but then I've no idea what it is :-/

Where is the noise coming from?

If behind the cambelt cover it could be the tensioner.
If from the top could be a warn tappet/follower.
If from aux belt area again could be the tensioner.
