Cooker Hood - Fuse location
So the extractor fan on the cooker hood blew some time ago, really should fix it. The bulb blew, it took out the whole thing as even a replacement bulb won't work nor the fan. It does not actually extract it, just filter it out.
Where is the fuse for this? Doing some Googling suggests there should be a fused spur separate from the plug? As it's powered by 3 pin plug in one of the cabinets, is there a fuse in the chimney area? Can't see one in the light area.
Not sure how the chimney bit comes off :-\

Sounds like the (loose term :-X) electrician was lazy and just stuck a plug on the end instead of a fuse spur ::)
That is probably the only fuse.
A 3 amp fuse should do the trick :y

Thanks, I was looking for another fuse, I'll prise the one out of the plug and swap it for a known good one :)

Yep, doubt theres another fuse for a cooker hood, apart from the one in the plug..

Make sure its suitable rated (i.e., the same as whats in there). Fuses are dirt cheap from any DIY place. Even if the knobs rush you up a couple of quid for a pack of 5, that will last you the rest of your life, so its worth it.

swapped a 5amp fuse out for another, fan now working but lights not. But I'm not using right bulb, although it does screw in. Need to order the right bulbs and retest

If you've fitted the wrong bulb, you may have damaged the contacts which in turn will short and pop the fuse ;)
Best have a look in there before you replace the bulb :)
