The rubber switches and other rubbery areas (internal door handles, gear selector surround, radio...) on my facelift are all aging very very badly. In spite of the fact that I have owned the car for the past 5 years, have no dog and the kids ride in their mum's car, the interior is degrading rapidly. My pre-faclift in comparison was all black plastic, and as I did not have Climate it was very basic at that and had no fake wood etc, but looked much better in my view and will defintely last much longer - I sold it when it was four years old and it looked new, unlike this one... >:(

Well mine has a little bit on the gear gaiter but it's done 155,000 miles so it's holdin up pretty well
-
ten yr old pre facelift (obviously) and the interior is mint not a mark

Well on hot days if you press the on/off radio knob (I don't like using the steering-wheel one) it feels like goo, and my finger is all sticky.
The rubber around the base of the gear selector is mushey in parts, and any attempt to revive it only results in more bits rubbing off it, a bit like using an eraser...
The area around the leccy windows controls on the door is badly scratched as well.
My old run-of-the-mill non-climate pre-facelift Omega had better interior!

The cow seats are nice though... :)
But I still can't figure out why they took away the forward folding passenger seat feature from cars fitted with leather - how does the leather prevent the seat from folding forward? :o

Tell him to change his Cam Sensor and be done with it. ;D

And did I mention that the spot reading lights near the rearview miror were adjustable and very focused on the old car - not so on the facelift, I actually keep a Maglite in the glove compartment in case I need to read a map?

Not at all.
AA is a kind and helpful person and I have no intention of offending him in anyway.
Did I mention that he was going to send me his non-cluckety gear selector solenoid for a fiver? :)

Ah, what you need is SatNav with the color screen upgrade. ;)
Do you use anything to clean the dash, silicones etc.? This might be causing it to wear more rapidly. I only use a damp cloth, no fancy sprays etc. and mine are still like new. ::)

No silicone spray in any car of mine! I clean it with a soft dry dust cloth, sometimes I use a small brush to shift more stubborn dust when it accumulates in unreachable corners.

I don't use any sprays, water, cloths or anything. In fact that might be why it is looking so dusty.

A very weak solution of warm water and fairy liquid (other types of washing up liquid are avalible) does the trick for me on all interior surfaces. Can't stand the way silicon spray makes the top of the dash all shiny and glary in the sunlight.

Well my basic old GLS is pretty good really. Its done 57k but is seven years old. The worst bits are a few scratches around the interior door handles at the front and a some scuffed areas on the plastic bit below the hand break.
What is really annoying me at the moment (and its doesn’t take much) is behind the instrument panel for the heating controls / climate control, there seems to be a lot of dust (may even be polish spray) so everything appears a little out of focus. I did try to prise it out but gave up before I broke something.
By the way, I have a very annoying rattle (as I said it doesn’t take much) on the passenger side front seat. The metal wavy thing underneath is rattling on the frame when there is no one sat in it. I have to take Mrs MikeD everywhere to stop it rattling.

Come on guys!! what's going on?? A thread with the subject "Rubbery Omega" and not a single "Thankyou very Much" in a comical oriental accent!
I'm dissapointed!! ;D ;D ;D

So is mine.....but it was like it when i bought the omega......i dont think its gettting worse.....so i assume the previous owner had a ring/s on his finger and thats whats caused it.....The rest of the interior is fine
