Hi OOF,  :y

Been off a while, had exhaust problems :(  got local garage to diagnose problem, needed new "cat" garage supplied and fitted new "cat",  so thought all fixed,  ???  got another problem caused by garage, they broke a manifold bolt  :o thats what I mainly want advice on, also had flu  :'(  had mot, failed mot on nearside/offside front lower suspension arms  :'(  and suprise, 1 advisory, leaking exhaust at manifold  >:( :o  got parts, fitted parts (struggle) got mot  :y  now want to deal with garage that broke my car before they mot'd it,when the new "cat " was fitted   >:(

So heres the low down, car was ok but noisy, generally clanking about noise more than exhaust noisy.  When the garage looked, they said, needs new "cat" and generally tightening up,bracket missing/broken etc. So went with that, used them before and generally ok,never get the price right, but never had any major problems till now. So they fitted new parts, when I picked it up, they did tell me they broke a manifold bolt, but wasnt too bad, only one, lots of omega's running around with broken manifold bolts, all would be ok. But, after only one day it was noisy, couldnt get back to garage but then mot due,so went down that road. suprisingly they then told me, big job fixing the manifold but as it was only blowing slightly it was only an advisory. I had flu and couldnt be arsed to argue, but thought get the mot then argue, hoping I would be feeling better by then. Well as you can see, it failed and its taken me into the second week to get it fixed, not by the mot garage. Well the exhaust is blowing quite bad now, despite the new "cat",but not from the new cat obviously, but from top end   area, cant tell exactly.
Problem may be, only have my word the garage guy said he broke the manifold bolt when they did the exhaust, but not sure if he personally broke it or another guy did and they told him they broke it ?? They know its a bu*&er of a job to do, because they told me that,so obvious they dont want to do it without getting paid for the pleasure. Whats the best way to go here ? any advice helpful im sure
thx :D

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Ripspeed DV720 fitting issue
« on: 20 February 2012, 16:36:29 »
Just treated the car to a DVD player, got it from Hal with the ford guys on a refurb deal for £99  :y happy with that and it seems to work ok, BUT....I cant get the damn thing in the hole far enough lol, tried for 2 hours, given up now,it is in, but still proud of the actual facia  :(   Think the problem is the connectors drop down into the recess as its pushed in, the new "box" it slides into is much shorter than the VX one and I think I may need to get a longer "box" or mod the new one some how?  :-\

Anyone actually got one of these to fit in, I got too many cables and have "moved" some  ;D

Also the old CD stacker in the boot keeps trying to access the cd's,as in click, clicking, but now the cartridge wont push in, seems to have been an issue only since started messing with the new one  ???

Any useful or useless suggestions welcome, gotta try em all or its back to Hal with the ford guys to fit @ £24.99 ;D

Ok so Im posting a new question, seems no one replying to old post I think because of the title? so maybe it will get an answer here ? 2.0L 16v 1998.

earlier today my Paper-clip test came back with a strange number which i didnt see on forum when I looked,

new one is 0505    checked it again and again and it defo' 10,5,10,5 or 0505, I did video it on my phone but not time to upload it yet, maybe if you need to see it then I will attempt that.

I am still getting 0340 , cam position sensor, I changed it today but its still showing  ??? ( see old question updated today )

still have 0110, but to be fair I haven't addressed that yet, so expected.

what do you think ?  Im going to run it to work for a few days and see what turns up, only a few miles away, but need to test it more.
Any comments or sugestions are appreiciated as you well know   :y     and thx if you do

Hi Guys  :y
Well new I would be on here soon, but hopefully thx to all the info on here, I may be 1/2 way to fixing my car already, in theory anyway  ;D

Thought I would just run it past you any way, following your advice to others I did the "paper-clip" test, but used a link of cable, being a sparks theres always some hanging about  ::)
First code is 0110 ( 10,1,1,10 )  this reads on your chart as, ( I.A.T )  Intake Air Temp sensor signal volts hi/lo, reading up on it on here, it looks like it may need cleaning, replacing or maybe its just disconnected?  I normally push relays, plugs and fuses first of all, but honestly didn't notice this little beauty hiding under the pipework.
Next code is 0340 ( 10,3,4,10 )  this reads on your chart as, Camshaft Position Sensor, no signal or incorrect signal, reading up on here again, looks like it is prone to failure and so unless there is a cable / plug fault this will need replacing too ?

Thats both the codes I had, the car idles rough from start up, cold or hot, it try's to idle about 1000 rpm,but quickly drops to maybe 600>800 and back again, idles ok for a few seconds then back to 600>800, almost stalling when its in gear, being an automatic at the lights your foots on the brake and obviously in gear, going to neutral helps, so you know the issue. When I picked it up it had this problem, I knew about it so no blame going to the seller, it did run quite nicely on the motor way when cruising but felt "strained" on throttle, on foot to the floor it coughed and spluttered before changing, I didn't rev that high again, but I had to see the effect  ;)
On my last visit to my garage earlier, after the "paper-clip" test, which I did 3 or 4 times to re-check, the car refused to start? I did notice the control light for the engine electronics goes off for just a few seconds after start-up, but soon comes back on, I removed the key and reset the alarm on/off, but still nothing, lots of engine turning but no starting, after a few short goes,I tried to push the beast in the garage, but a small lip at the edge of the garage prevented that, so I tidied up a bit, then tried it again and it begrudgingly fired, so its back in the garage and that's where its staying till Im ready to do some work on it  :)
So, what does anyone think, maybe right, maybe wrong, miles away or what lol  :y

Newbie Welcome Area / Hi All, I'm New...... Again :)
« on: 25 January 2012, 16:01:54 »
Hello All at OOF,
I say I'm new again, as I was here a few years ago with an older Omega,a 95 2.5 V6 CDX,I loved it, but it went down the V6 path of doom, with water in the oil problems and soon went to the big scrappy in the sky :/ well just up the road, but you get my drift :)
Any way I'm coming back with a newer model, although 98' 2.0 CDX Auto, may not be every ones idea of "new" or the ideal engine size, at an R reg plate its still the newest one I have owned, and it seems in quite nice condition, its Maroon, and with only 66800 miles on the ticker, looked well worth being my next ride, hopefully, for some time.
I could have gone down the 3.2 Elite road but to be honest I'm getting bored of racing at every set of lights and filling up at every other, lol. Currently running a Volvo 850 CD 2.3 T5 estate, remapped to 304 BHP with hardened suspension, its nothing short of manic, once the tyres stop slipping and actually grip there's not much keeps up with it, but at 228,000 miles its time to trade the old girl in and move on to calm, sedate driving in comfort, hence coming back to an Omega. My wife's going to be much happier :D
Picking it up this weekend, the insurance is almost half of the Volvo, and the mpg will be so much better, more smiley faces. Can't wait :D
p.s. cya on the forum soon rofl..........
