I know it's not a new story but I've only just discovered the (100 odd page) build thread of the latest incarnation of RV3.
To say that this man built "The worlds fastest, street legal car" is an achievement, when you discover he did it in a lock up virtually in his spare time, then that is awe inspiring...
Quote
Andy got hold of Red Victor in 1982, when it was simply a 1972 Vauxhall Victor VX4/90 (it wouldn't officially become 'Red Victor' until the early 1990s) that he got in a swap for his Mk2 Ford Cortina.

And here is a link to the build of the car that will hopefully regain his crown...
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=845887&mid=0&i=0&nmt=Redvictor+3&mid=0
I've only gotten to page 10 upto yet but I read through those in one short sitting!

Figured this would be better placed here rather than in 'Car Chat' as I guess Red Victor is more a part of the builders life than just a car.

I need to clear out these items, some of which have been sitting in the corner of our kitchen for quite some time.
Prices start at £1.00, nothing pictured is more than £10.00, postage is available on all items.

These first four pictures show items removed from the car I'm currently breaking, an '02 Mv6 saloon.

The rest of the pictures are items removed from previously broken Omegas.

Pre facelift (plastic) buttons.

Mini facelift (rubberised) buttons.

Facelift buttons.

I also have a few facelift Vectra dash switches available...

...these look like they are interchangeable with the rubberised mfl Omega switches...

I thought I should offer these for sale on here for a week or so before listing them on fleabay.
They are available to collect for £240 for the set of four.
I'll also offer them for sale individually for £75 each for the round ones and £40 for the brokended one.
I've only noticed the damage to the n/s rear inner rim since removing the wheel from the car but as the tyre is still blown up I guess I've been driving around on it since April, I certainly don't recall any potholes/bangs that could have done it...

Off side front wheel.

Near side front wheel, looks like someones been at it with a scourer.

The tax is up in a few days and I have already sold the o/s rear door to a fellow forum user.
Also noticed today that the o/s rear speaker is only a standard item, not a Bose unit, who knows what is waiting to be discovered in the other doors!?

I'm trying to work through my tax return and am having problems remembering how to work out percentages... ::)

Total miles travelled = 10771 (B)
Bus. miles travelled = 4955   (A)
A/B x 100 = % of costs relating to business use. (46%)

I need to know the formula for working out 46% of £3492.90

Thanks in advance,
Rich.

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Breaking 2002 2.6 Mv6 (Elite).

It looks like I will be breaking my Mv6 at the end of September (when the tax expires), unless it sells complete first.

I am putting up this thread now so that anyone who requires parts has the chance to see them working whilst the vehicle is still in use.
All parts will be available, here are a few of the high value items with an example of prices for parts collected...

NCDC2013 satnav with colour screen, full Bose setup including amplifier and all speakers, GPS antennae, 2007-2008 map disc, all wiring looms. £300.
All working 100%. No faults with the 4 disc C.D. changer, no issues with the G.P.S. signal when it rains, no problems with the colour screen.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Parking sensors.
« on: 24 August 2012, 13:28:39 »
A few weeks ago the Bosch ParkPilot system fitted as standard to my Mv6 started to play up, after selecting reverse the usual warning tone would sound for a second then be replaced by a lower continuous tone.
I checked all fuses but in the end disconnected the wiring looms to the control box in the boot as I could find nothing amiss and the noise was annoying, also I've managed just fine for the last 20 years by using the mirrors!

I've just reconnected the wiring looms and the problem still persists.

I have followed the wires back and found a component that looks like a normal automotive fuse but it has a resistor fitted where the fusible link is normally found. Also in this area are two wires, one black and one black with a white line, these wires have spade connectors which enable them to be joined.
After connecting these wires it seems the parking sensors are now working normally, even when the wires are disconnected.

My question is should the black and black/white wires be left permanently connected or not?

Thanks in advance,
Rich.

//Title edited by Admin as it was misleading

Sorry to the Mod's for starting a fresh advert but the old one was locked due to age and I would like to give this car a chance to be enjoyed by a new owner,
also I could REALLY do with raising some funds as a matter of urgency.

I have the vehicles log book present in my name which states 3 former keepers, it also shows that this vehicle was first registered in May 2002.
I am led to believe that the first of the former keepers was a Vauxhall dealership.

It has tax until the end of September and M.O.T. until 16th November both 2012.
Due to me being a Motor Trader I can offer insured testdrives providing you show evidence of full U.K. driving licence.

Still has two keys/carpass and all booklets etc.
Still no e.m.l. or running issues.
Here are the most recent (yesterday) photo's I have of the vehicle...

Just to add, I'm not interested in breaking this vehicle up for parts whilst it is still taxed even though I know it will return more in bits.

There is nothing 'wrong' with the vehicle and if it wasn't for the fact that needs must then I would not be in such a rush to sell her.

I kind of like this, reminds me of my first car (I've almost managed to forget the Metro!)...

... the combination of old and tatty and 200-300 b.h.p. is very appealing to me!
