I heard somewhere about the need for Tech2 after this replacement, is that just to clear the fault code I take it?

Just had the same problem with the same car. Mine brought up a code 19 when engine off.

@NF: which year & spec is your car please? I think you may have found my part number, lol  :y

I had this on my old Golf GTI turbo, turns out it was the battery, when I was convinced it was the starter.

Nice one Robert, I shall take a look. Might be keeping the Elite too as the Reflection is seriously running out of favours at the mo :/

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Bose removal/fitting/wiring
« on: 06 May 2010, 21:26:25 »
Hi all

I'm gonna be fitting a full Bose system to my Reflection shortly (amongst other things), what do I need to look out for? I will be removing it from a dead Elite first including rear shelf/blind etc.

I know I need to take the rear seats out first, and have taken in the OOF guide for the rear shelf/blind, its just the loom/front part I'm gonna need some help with. I hear the loom goes drivers side under the plastic covers front-to-back, correct? Where is it routed at the front? What will I need to remove? Any extra fuses required?

All door cards are coming over (plus both front doors) so speakers are in hand.

Also on this subject, I'll be having the leather seats too. Are the switches easily removed/fitted? I know how to get the seats swapped.

Re: switches - the Reflection has plastic blanking left and right where the heater/blind/etc switches go.

Finally...steering wheel controls...worth taking?

Cheers in advance!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / TC switch
« on: 06 May 2010, 23:26:53 »
Hi

I was just interested to know whether the TC switch to the side of my stereo can be disconnected and moved to one on the main switch area above the stereo if I have the relevant button? Its so I can gain back the space next to the stereo. Both cars are 98/R its just the old one has sat nav where my TC switch resides. Not gonna bother moving the Phillips sat nav.

Thx

Keep pushing the little tab on the MAF plug with the two lines on with your strongest thumb and wiggle a bit using other hand on the two edges that look like clips - it will eventually click and come straight off, once you did it once it will get easier.

Sorry I went to reply yesterday but the site (or my router) ground to a halt.

Its a Tevion/Aldi unit, I only keep it in because it has bluetooth handsfree and remote. Will probably replace it this year.

What colour is the illumination wire on the Omegas loom?

Hi

Can you wire a car stereo to inherit brightness control from the dash dimmer wheel? I have an aftermarket stereo in my miggy and its far too bright for dark roads and bad weather.

Its been driving me nuts on long late journeys, wouldn't mind sorting it out.

Thanks,

John

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Traffic Master

Yep sorry Dave me too!

11
it lasted 1 power cycle - next time I turned on the ignition it went back to 'phone'. Arschh.

Reckon taking out the stereo and puling out the TM adapter might help the situ? Is there such a thing or is it hardwired? Could really use my stereo, I'm DJing in London sat night, can't have no sounds for the journey!

Saying that there's my gf's brand spanking red Astra Sport hatch with VXR bodykit on outside with 99 miles on the clock, its looking favourite at the mo...want to take ma miggy though!

Hey guys that reboot cured it for about 1 minute, its knackered again.

Never gonna use Trafficmaster so if you could dig out that guide I'd appreciate it.

I'll search now anyhow and see what I can find, but its doing my nut in! Driving to London Saturday, really need my stereo back!

Hi Dave

I wonder if its all down to a power fluctuation at some point, is that possible? Say my mishap with the paper clip if you remember (slipped off pin 4 onto another pin during diagnostic)? It seems since disconnecting the battery and reconnecting, all gremlins in the CD changer (EJECT-CD after 2 mins) and the back-to-front steering wheel audio controls seem to have disappeared! Happy days...I hope.

Will report back if there's any gremlins remaining.

Ta guys

Yes, and it was piping up with 'you need to subscribe' at ignition...just disconnected the battery and reconnected, reset and working. But please go on with your train of thought, I'm interested to know.

That sort of thing
