Thanks TB did my PM 'X' mean anything :-? :-? :-?
Please play nicely. No one wants to listen/read a keyboard warriors rants....
Quote1. Is the aux belt tensioner similar on the 2.5td, and with a similar failure rate? I'm changing the belts soon, and the water pump as a precaution, so I'm wondering whether to do the tensioner, if applicable.
2. I've forgotten the second, it'll come back later.
That's an age thing
The tensioner is similar, not heard of any failing recently though.
1) hi happy new year... sorry i've not been around....
2) so let's say i'm thinking of replacing my V reg 3.0 mini facelift elite estate.... (it has ALL the bells and whistles... sat nav , built in phone bose stereo , eleccy everything etc.. ) and the budget, not including anything i might get for it , is £3K
i want a similar spec to mine... under 100K miles ,
any ideas??? spotted anything nice??
i'd prefer sat nav built in.... i hate the windscreen stick on jobs...
i like v6's.... and it has to be an estate....
can't find many similar spec motors right now.... not that i like any how... i will NOT go for a bloody rover.... and i'd prefer not to buy a Jap motor....
current prospects include 5 series Beemers, the odd merc, any miggy i can find.....
so far i've spotted a miggy elite , apparently without satnav... i'll look at it next week... for 2K 88k miles... FSH ....
also 7 seaters are possibles... but not essential.
any ideas and pointers??
Quotetrickle charge will do no harm what so ever. Most bike trickle chargers come with a plug to fit to the terminals to allow plugging in witout removing any body work. The whole thing is designed to be connected in situ with easy access.go and look at basic battery basics, battery should not be charged connected to engine charging systerm, and also should not charge battery in frezzing condishions, only a few battery can be connected to the engine charging systerm and the are gel batterys, some other batterys have a stop charge in side them they can be charged wile conneted to systerm. but you must remove earth wire (negitive) when charging a battery, but it is up to you only stateing what is recomend by battery spec's.
Cant be sure re. water in the works, but would think unlikely tbh.
did you take the batery off for the trickle charge?
What I think was meant by The Boy, was that once the Viscous fan is removed it is much easier to change the thermostat if it ever needs replacing
QuoteQuoteNo leather in it Tunnie. If there had of been I would of removed it ages ago. Not very keen on the seasonal extremities. Burning arse/freezing arseQuoteQuoteI have again located one I lke, a little OVER my budget, but what the hell, and it does not have leather so I am asking is can a Y Reg (31 May 2001) 2.2 CDX Petrol have the seats upgraded to leather? The seats there are already power seats.I`ve got an "X" 2.0 CDX full history needs replacement headgasket (about£150 diy) Was breaking but it`s cheap and if you know someone to do the work
Cheers
Diane
Take the leather out fit it to the new car, and break the rest, should make a profit.
D'oh thought yours had leather, hence your posting it on here
Have to agree on the leather front, swapping cars around on the drive, jumped into father tunnies which has leather, bit of my back cause the leather......ooooww that was cold!
Cloth for me, warm in winter, cool in summer 8-)
QuoteQuoteQuoteThis won't help the OP, but can anyone tell me a measured (not computed) MPG for a chipped 2.5td? :-?If you mean for your own motor, you'd be best working it out yourself. Brim the tank, reset trip-odo, do a week's driving (or however much you trust to be a fair comparison of your typical driving), top up to the brim again making a note of how many litres ittook to fill and how many miles on the trip.
Divide the litres it took to fill by 4.54, and divide the number of miles you've done by that.
For example, my fuel consumption when I filled up tonight was:
38.72 litres divided by 4.54 = 8.528 gallons.
296 miles, divided by 8.528 = 34.7mpg
That's a mixture of city centre and motorway driving. A bit down on the usual 38mpg I get, but it's getting due a service, and I've been leaving it running on our (locked! to keep it safe from theiving chavs!) driveway in a morning to de-ice and warm it up before driving to work.
Not too bad for a 3.2 me thinks!
Surprisingly perhaps, I had worked that out, which is why I wanted to check other td owners' figures.
Sorry, from reading your response/request, it sounded like ou generally wanted to know what mpg a chipped 2.5td would do. Apologies.
