Yep, that was flooded as was a large section of the Uxbridge Road.

With all this rain, there is still[/i] a hose pipe ban in the this area!!

Bloody stupid aint it! - After washing my car i used more water washing the soap off with full buckets of water than using a hose!  >:(

I know what you mean.  I use a watering can and reckon that this uses the same amount of water as the hose and is a whole lot more inconvenient.

Makes washing vehicles a real pain.

I might use a hose next time, put it down the centre drive. I think Hillingdon police have more important things to worry about, although i think i am with three valleys water so not to sure even if they have a ban. Never got a letter about it  :-?

It has been very wet in London today, and the resultant water logged roads have reminded me of something which I though I would share.  It is just a piece of advice really and I am sure that most, if not all, on here will already know this but just in case..................

If you come across a piece of water logged road, don't drive through at excessive speed.  Not only do you risk aquaplaning but the cold water will hit the hot catylatic converter which will cause thermal shock and could possible cause the internal honeycomb to fail in the future.  Of course, on the V6, there are two converters to worry about.

For these reasons, I always slow down when approaching a waterlogged piece of road.

Hope this helps.

Good point, didn't think about the cats. I am like a kid sometimes drive though on purpose to make a big splash!!  :D

That cross roads near the Esso / Tesco Garage and Hayes Rail station, is that corner really flooded again?

Was last time!!

good luck Pete, looking forward to some pics.

Btw did you get it towed home as it 'broke down'  ;)

Morning Tunnie
No I hired a van and trailer.

Well looks like headgasket failure as there is mayo in the oil filler and on the dipstick but no oil in the water :'( Any advice?

The mayo is it soft or hard? - I remember TheBoys project under the oil filler cap it was encrusted with dry old oil. No water in there sounds good.

Not to sure on how exactly you can test it....

Therefore the christmas decorations come down.  Mrs TheBoy dealing with the tree etc, I will deal with the christmas smilies here. Sounds fair to me....

I forgot to mention dropping off the coolant, that house down your road which has gone to town on the lights. My god that place made it as bright as day down there!! ::)
The one in the corner?  Every year, he has to go better than last year. Wouldn't fancy his leccy bill...

Talking of coolant, I need to give you some money. I also need to clear your camsensor codes from ecu.  I also need my TC card back before you bugger off to the big smoke.

Did you ever get a carpass, or not going to bother now?

Yeah the one right down the end, the whole front of his house was drapped in them. Way OTT for my taste..

I should get a car pass but can't be bothered to trek down to the dealer again. Thanks to Mark fixing my key i should be ok untill the summer.

I bloody hope i aint going to get any more cam sensor error codes!! - Still need to give mine an oil change...  Sunday morning ok to drop your oil tray back and the other bits?

Don't worry about the money, take the coolant as a tech2 payment  :y

Thanks for that, yes I will, I'm working on a shopping list for Autovaux. The Wife's Corsa could prob do with a general service as well, so lots of bits to be bought, plus I am hoping to fit an LPG sytem to the Omega, so lots of things to be done. Could do with a spare couple of weeks! ;D

Also, at 80k you'll need new spark plugs... have a look at:

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152655082

you may find some other things that need doing - auto gerabox oil, etc....

I bet mine could do with some new plugs, bet they have never been changed either!
Might help ;)

Think i will do them when i re-visit the throttle body.

My first car was an Astra 1.2 on a Y plate - they've come a long way since then :y

Astra 1.2!  :o :o - 1.2 in an Astra? Blimey that must have been underpowered!

And it was an 8v.  My mate had a yellow 1.2S and that went much faster  ;D  Engines were smaller in the old days Tunnie - what was your family driving when you were 5?

I was imaging an Astra H with a 1.2 ...

When i was 5, mum has a metro i think and dad a Ford Granada

next door has a '04 plate new shape Astra.

Its the 1.7 CDTi, he can get 60mpg over a tank!  :o

Never driven on, sat in one at a Vx dealer. Quite nice inside, although not as comfy as the megga, my legs felt a little squshed.

Love to drive the 2.2 petrol version!  ;)
