That's just on engine failures.

According to the website with the data behind the news item:
http://www.reliabilityindex.com/manufacturer/relIndex

on overall reliability:

Vauxhall is more reliable than ovlov, VW, saab, bmw, jaaag, mercedes, audi, and Bentley.

but not as reliable as shitroen or peugeot  ::)

Mind you, it also says Ford is more reliable than all the above.

Hardly a surprise though :-\

Any company that spends half their marketing budget on adverts telling you just how reliable their products are obviously has issues...
I wonder where Skoda featured in that list :-\ Might also have summat to do with the owners considering the number of people who buy these cars do so to make an impression, so dealer servicing from new being overlooked on cost grounds :-\

Good point, did hear a few reports than people are skimping on service costs. False economy really

I recall posting on here about a Touareg engine failure after the owner skimping on costs took it to Kwik Fit who did not fit the oil sump plug properly and 5 minutes after leaving the Kwik Fit depot had done £12000 + damage which was fixed at VW dealer in Camberley.

The Lexus (badly) parked at Bicester North today will need the RAC tonight, as the owner is too thick/stupid to hear the lights-on warning buzzer...

Hardly the cars fault, but bet owner won't see it that way ;D

They are according to this:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/62383/german-cars-among-worst-engine-failures?utm_source=Outbrain&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=August

Honda is miles up in front!

Always liked the look of these :

Are you sure you're only 29,  Mr Tunnie?.

Even I'm too young for a Honda Leg-end.

I do like them though, so maybe when I retire. :y

Saw one of these the other day in town, Looked different in a good way. Hardly many about well around here anyway.

I know someone who had a similar experience - garage forgot to tighten the oil filter and the car emptied it's sump on the motorway..

..of course the garage in this case was an Audi main dealer where you'd expect them to know better..

Why?

I was being sarcastic ;)

Of course in a perfect world they would know better. That particular dealer might not do it again though, it cost them quite dearly.. if they hadn't admitted it in an email they might have wriggled out of it, too ;D

Its ok, it was very tongue in cheek.  :y ;D

Reality is that the spanner spinners are all pretty much of the same standard these days be it Kia, Halfords or Merc!
