After a call from the owner  we've agreed on £6750 for the CLS 500.

It will come with a fresh MOT that will be done on either Monday or Tuesday.

I've even paid him a small deposit to show good faith. 

Why oh why couldn't I have been sensible for once and bought a cheap to run Daewoo like that STMO chappie?.

I don't think I'll ever learn.

First thing I'll do is bin those almost new Michelin Alpin winter tyres. Yuk.

I suppose I can kid myself that it's not a totally crazy thing to do.

Because road tax is no more than the MV6 and fully comp insurance comes in at less than £200.

Because it would bore you stupid, leaving Mrs Opti two cars to drive, which she would shout at you for. Alot.

As for the winter tyres, you might as well use them until March, and if there's any life left in them, pop them in the shed just in case next winter happens certainly no point binning them just 'because'

Would you consider a part exchange with your Daewoo, Steve?.  Obviously you'll need to bung me a few quid. Lets say your Daewoo plus £300 and we have a deal.

Start saving for fuel now. I'd imagine that you could easily run the mpg down to low teens.     

As much as I'd have loved the R500 I just couldn't justify a 5 V8 2300kg 4x4    They can keep up with a Golf GTi at the lights 

Sensibilty made me buy the R320 though

I noticed that the trip computer was showing a 24.6 MPG average over the last 600 miles. I'm guessing it must be about as accurate as a sundial. . 15 MPG sounds closer to the mark.

I had an SL350 in for mot today,trip said 17.4 average,nice though Opti,enjoy it

I had an SL350 in for mot today,trip said 17.4 average,nice though Opti,enjoy it

In that case maybe 12 MPG is closer to the mark for the 500.

Oh well, swings and roundabouts.

Mark DTM reckons on about £800.

However, Wanli Ditchfinders could be significantly cheaper.

The crappy winter tyres will  suffice for the immediate future. .......How I hate winter tyres........no need for them whatsoever.
