Were sunroofs optional on Omega?
« on: 14 December 2016, 22:44:09 »

Just wondered as mine doesn't have one, more or less every senator, cavalier etc. I see has one, so thought omega would have followed suit, except police spec ones. Not sure if they were standard or not?

Kind of glad as they drain water into the sills and the roof rots out round them too.

Vauxhalls went through a phase, as did a lot of car manufactures, of not fitting Sunroofs when Air Con was fitted as standard during the 90's, so if we forget the Omega's without Air Con for the Moment, the only Omega's that were fitted with Sun Roofs as Standard and Air Con were CDX's and Elites, so any others with Air Con, ie MV6 and CD's (not sure about Basic spec late GLS) Sun Roofs were an Option Order.

Only CDX/Elite as standard then. Makes sense then why mine doesn't have one - CD only. You also get more head room as well!

I use it all the time. Considering that I leave the climate control set to 20°, there's very little point in it being on when the ambient temperature is anywhere between about 10 and 25°. Which is a large chunk of the year in the UK. That included last weekend, when it was 11° according to the display in the car.

You forgot to mention the tantalising prospect that as your car ages, it can morph into a semi-sentient being. Open itself of its own volition overnight and allow about 2 gallons of rainwater to seep into the front seats.

Or perhaps that's just the one in my car  ;D

A semi-sentient Omega is a pretty disturbing thought!
It would be like a stroppy teenager stomping about breaking things, or an incontinent OAP with dementia.

Mine has done this very randomly maybe once or twice a year, It sh*t me up once opening while driving, Another time with the engine idling while in the house came out and it had tilted the sunroof, luckily not raining any time it's happened :o ;D

Ghost of Christmas past perhaps?  :D

I pulled the fuse on mine. That stopped the little bugg£r's antics once and for all  :y

I gather that you can disassemble the control wheel and clean it up as a fix. But seeing as I never (voluntarily) used it before, I figured life's too short.
