Been lots of RAF activity in this area all day, very low & super fast.

Two Typhoons out and back from Coningsby on an 8 hour CAP over the Baltics.

And 4 Typhoons returning from the USA to Coningsby (Red Flag 22-1 and China Lake)

6 F-35's departed Lakenheath headed to the Baltics. They've only got 7.

NATO is on as high an alert as I've known in 45 years of plane spotting. Constant airborne CAP including typically 4-6 tankers along the entire NATO/Soviet boarder, and stateside USAF/USMC units forward deployed in multiple places.

BP will sell it's stake in Russian oil firm Rosneft and reportedly will take a $25 billion hit!  :o

Apparently Switzerland will impose sanctions on Russians and Russian banks tomorrow! This is huge, as I think they carried on doing business with the Germans all through WW2?  Are they no longer officially neutral?  :-\

Following Poland's refusal to play Russia in their upcoming World Cup qualifier, the English FA have said that England will not play Russia for the for-see-able future.  FIFA have followed the IOC's example and said Russia can play under the name Union of Russia (or some such BS) and must play their 'home' games in other countries with no fans, anthems or flags. FIFA are pricks and should have just kicked Russia out of international football!  >:(  Let's hope that no country will be willing to host the 'Union of Russia' team and that no-one will be willing to play them!  ::)

Poland has reported groups of Russian soldiers wearing civvies turning up at border posts requesting 'protection'.  :-\

Apparently there are 11 Russian troop ships in the Black Sea heading for Odessa....  :-\

Imposing sanctions on Russia and providing military kit and humanitarian aid to the Ukrainians are all very well, but I wonder how long the Western world can sit by and watch this.........  :-\

Fair play to the Ukranians for putting up a stronger resistance than Putin/the Russians thought they would and respect to the Ukranian president for staying put and not having it on his toes when the US offered to get him out of there.Given the scenario[however unlikely] of mutually assured destruction is Putin mad enough to start throwing nukes about the place? If he is would his generals back him and allow it to happen or would they finally turn on him?

In the event of both sides throwing nuclear missiles about, is everyone prepared with food, bottled water, something to repair windows with and a first aid kit?

Those people that snapped up defunct bunkers for “ mushroom growing “ or signed up for places in modern bunkers might just be sitting pretty.

Watching 'When the wind blows' should be considered reasonable preparation.

As would moving out of Lundun.

This gives an interesting insight into a fraction of the corruption and nepotism in and around Pootin .
Nothing new but to me it displays why Navalny is locked away by the regime , he seems an engaging guy .

I think it's quite ironic that in Russia the circumstances of the revolution of 1917 are similar , albeit reversed .

I recently reread 1984 by George Orwell. The last time was about 20 years ago.

Mrs Opti has an old copy of Animal Farm which I shall read.....but it seems that some animals are more equal than others. :)
