Sounds good, I do hope that incredibly low mileage is genuine!  Were the shocks upgrades or replacements?

Replace the cabin air filter to stop the misting problem.  (Also make sure drain hole in bottom of filter box is unblocked).

Yep replace the air filter, also run the system on 'ECO' on full heat for a while, that should help dry out a few things and reduce the moisture in the compressor.

Unfortunately pre mini-facelift Omega's don't have height adjustable steering  :(

31k on a '97?? Wow! :)

An elite should have adjustable steering column....

Owning a smokers car... hmmm I know how you feel. That could take some time to remove. :(

As the others have said, replace air/pollen filter, clear scuttle and give it an oil and filter change.
I would also change the fuel filter and certainly remove plenum and clean breather system and throttle bodies.

While the mileage is low, follow the usual procedures, you don't how the last owner drove it.

Wash all the plastics in the car, VAX any upholstery and get a neutrodol thingy

My car was a little grubby and the upholstery cleaner smelt funny - doing this cleamed mune up - should work with a faggy car

I think you will find the elites were equipped with adjustable steering columns from 97 onwards....

Note the use of the phrase "I think" ;)

I await correction/cofirmation from Mark...
