I've decided to fit miggy up with some 15" steel wheels with 195/65 michelin winter tyres
I've been to the local breakers and they have plenty of I think Vectra 5 stud wheels @ ET49 miggys original spare has an ET33
The breakers have assured me 4 of their wheels will be OK.
I'm not so sure I did some measureing/compareing with the spare and I think the wheels will project more outward on the car
Last year I hit a hidden pot hole which did some serious damage to the 18" Sport Star alloy and also took out the tyre
I still shudder at the impact effect on miggy
The shocker probably bottomed,so I now have a mental picture of the same or similar hit with a ET49 wheel could damage the wheel arch/body
Can anybody fill me in on the best way to go for winter wheels and tyres??
Think I'd prefer 3 more ET33 wheels

vectra wheels will probably fit, but more important than that
I can only recommend x-ice model for micheline.. and its expensive..

Thanks TB,never thought, had the impression they were perhaps a bit scarce with the demand for winter wheels,and the advent of alloys, just got back from the scrappers and he had sorted out 2 ET33s,still need 2 more if I'm not to use the spare so I'll post and hope for 2 more
Had a quote Cem for 4 195/65 15" michelins of 352.00 with tax think this seems OK
Could be I'm not used to 15"prices

Last winter i was using 195/65r15 tyres. Will never do this again. Couple times on dry road when i hit throttle really hard i felt like i am on ice, i did really nice drift  And my engine is only 2.0l and it's auto. I already got 215/55r16 for this winter.

I also run winter tyres. dunlop winter response 195/65/15 95 t reinforced(common for mpv)ON ET33 omega steels.Et49 are ok but make wheels stand more proud.
Dont buy 195/65/15 91 load as you will invalidate your insurance as the omega is oe spec 94 load due to its weight.

MYTYRES is the best website for these and most other tyres.

I am not sure about that. Autodata shows: 6,5x15 195/65R15 91H/Q/V, for 3.0l model 6,5x15 195/65R15 91H/T/Q, 7x15 205/65R15 94H/V........ So if the rim is 6,5x15 I think it should be alright. Or is it mistake in Autodata?

Accept that autodata is shite, and then we can get down to facts

For starters, all 3.0l must have 149mph rated tyres (Z in the old days, Y and W in today's money). Thats irrespective of how you drive.  Pretty certain GM state Z rated for 2.5 as well, despite V probably just about covering it.

well seeing as v has a speed rating of 149 mph i think it should cover it 
i know z rating is 150 mph+  but tend to run out of road before i hit that speed

I want to see someone, forcing even the limits of T on snow    let alone the V rated tires..

either your winter tires are aged or road surface muddy/dusty..
 
my miggy can also do the same on dry with even summer tires ( potenza size 215) but cant do the same with 195 size UG500 .. and its a 2.5 manual..

Thanks all for your input i'ts much appreciated,up to press have'nt had any experience of driving on winter tyres.
Its great to have info and advice to think on.
Main reason for changing the wheels is to take my alloys out of harms way of ice damaged roads/potholes,had enough last year.
Thought it to be a bonus to fit tyres dedicated to better traction on wet/ice/snow,not from a performance point of view, but non skid/slide safety angle,so as keep miggy,driver,and passengers safe
Miggy can't carry a spare due to the donut lpg tank  so I'll be sourcing the tyres from ATS to take advantage of their Master Service Tyre Care Service which incorporates Roadside Tyre Assistance UK & European as well as insureing the tyres.
