Would something like THIS (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Autotecnica-GM0514054-Fuel-Sending-Filter/dp/B07QPC874P)be suitable? That's one of the first results Googling fuel tank filter sock, you might find exactly what you want spending a bit more time looking at the rest :y

thanks for reply.
mine is a plastic round bobbin that sits in the swirl pot .the sock would probably be more for carburretted cars where the pick up lays on the bottom. obviously a big enough sock if i could find one would fit around the plastic ! chreers

I've never seen a swirl pot on a carlton tank/pump ???
saloon the pump was mounted on the side of the tank , estate the pump was in-line :-\

Is it any different to the Omega one :-\

the carlton tanks have the swirl bowl built in to the tank base. the pick up and return pipes all feed from / into it. external pump ,damper and filter mounted inline.
i may have found some finemesh sheet which i can wrap around the bobbin unlesssomething better popsup !
