General Car Chat / Re: A Day At The Auctions
« on: 18 September 2018, 16:59:57 »
;D having worked in the auctions for 4 years, had loads of big bargains!
usually paid half retail, ran them a year or 2, then sold on for more than i paid!
having said that, I am conversant with most tricks the auctioneers use,

its pretty difficult when your lusting after a particular/model spec, etc to see the bids bounciung off the walls and the auction houses own bidders, but once you know, its easy to say no thanks, often the bidding stops then! the auctioneers then have a conflab of its close to reserve and offer it to you at you last bid,
which of course was the rough price you had determined having given the vehicle a good going over in the run up,to be the right price, you would pay for the car,

if a dealer waants a particular model and has none on the forecourt which he knows he will shift easily they will often bid over trade price just to keep thier stock moving around,if a large dealer, car supermarket etc, has a car sat for moe than 6 weeks its often shipped to another dealer, then sent to auction if it still dont sell, its all about keeping the forecourt looking as if its busy

Just wait until every human has to be micro-chipped and trackable by internal means!! ::) ::) ::)

Perhaps we are already! ;D ;D ;)

Yep we are all tracked via our mobile phones.  ::)

only if you have a smart phone,if like me your mobile is 22 years old, it cant be tracked! they can find out the nearest phone tower, but thats it!! and i wont be buying a newer phone! :y(got same model one for a spare in case it ever dies!) :y
Actually they triangulate from three towers... Which will give a reasonable guesstimate and could pinpoint you to a modest area at any given time  ;)
yep agree "rough area" but unlike smart phones which constantly update its location,my old beast does not! nosy bastards them phone companies, plus in all the yrs ive owned it,its never been registered! lol

Istr someone (Lord Opti) saying recently that Kimi is old and too slow. He has just done the fastest lap in the history of F1 !
Tomorrow is another day, and apparently it may well rain.  :y :)
as said before Kimi is a hell of a driver,
but whats the betting if he has a perfect start,
leads from start to finish
he still wont be allowed to win!

being  born in london,

Absolutely hate what it has become now,
I wont even visit the place, its run by an idiot of a mayor who thinks he should comment on everything that happens in london,he just happens to be the barrister that speciailised in defending muslim terrorists and is one himself, filthy, stinks, costs are sky high including fuel, and the people are miserable,
its only saving grace is the sky high wages, if you bought your house 36years ago you can enjoy the money and leave to a healthy life of leisure
You're not thinking of moving back then?
>:( not until its been bombed out and rebuilt for proper people to live in!!

Could it not have been an organ donor?  :'(

Ron.
By Monday Aug 21st I had removed differential, handbrake and rear lights, all I wanted. I rang the scrappie, he called same day, but could not back in so went off to return with a smaller truck. Then omegatoy expressed a wish for a 2.2 manual box. so I put scrappie off until Tuesday 28th. omegatoy arrived Saturday with a mate in a NYPD Carlton, and whipped off the gearbox. On Tuesday I discovered the diff did not fit my 2.5, so I removed the front diff hanger  from the 2.2. Today scrappie called again and this time took Y118 away. I reckon it was a good organ donor.

 ;D :y

not eaten seafood since fukashima,

find the map of affected areas that are teeming with radiation from it, still pumping out thousands of tons of horrible arsenic plutonium, strontium and many others, and they cannot stop it,I will stick to cows i think :y
