Face-lift headlights
« on: 01 November 2007, 13:47:10 »

Can the headlight assembly(std bulb type) on a face-lift model be re-built ?
The reflector is loose and moves about inside. The beam ends up pointing towards oncoming traffic, although fortunately to low to dazzle.

Is it the adjuster within the light that is broken?

If so you could try gluing it, but completely replacing the adjuster is a better bet.

If i'm correct, they cannot be bought new, so you'd have to scour the scrap yards to find one.

Problem is getting one that's not broke is rarer than rocking horse poo, just ask Jim.  ::)

Yes,  they can be repaired with glue but it's very difficult to get into the parts to glue it

Not sure if it's the adjuster. The left hand side can be moved back 'n' fore by about an inch.
There is also about half an inch movement up 'n' down.
I was wondering if the lens cover came off as it seems to have a rubber seal around it that looks like it is designed to be removed and replaced.

I'm almost positive i've seen a how2 on this by MrMcB.

I can't seem to find it. It may have been on 'another' forum, somewhere in the past.  :-/

It is quite straightforward, you just need to be carefull whilst doing it so you don't damage anything else.  ;)

Ok folks, thanks for the input. I know the lights on my '94 Elite cannot be dismantled but the '00 looks quite different around the lens rim.
I think it's a case of "suck it and see".
Cheers mee deers !!
