Original pump body is 44mm diameter and case is 98mm long. Overall end to end of the inlet and outlet tubes is 150mm.

Agree Dave it could well have been changed to the earlier version but did not look like anyone had been in there previously.  Original vx fuel pipepinch clips seemed untouched

The replacement  bosch i was sent is 38mm diameter  88m long  and 112mm end to end of the in and out

Ah yes. . Good detective work Doc.  If 2nd new one won't fit I will try that 30 quid used one you found.
Scrapping the car was mentioned purely out if frustration  ;D ;D >:(
Thanks for yours and everyone's help and input on this.   :y

This pump won't fit.  Too many differences to adapt.  Much shorter, different  smaller diameter, gauze filter won't fit on inlet which is different  size, locating pins on bottom of pump don't match up.  All bad news.
Ordered another which supposedly  matches the original bosch number.  If that don't fit then its either  try and match up at a motor factors ,buy the complete swirl pot and pump  or get one from a breaker. . . Or scrap the car  :o :o :o

All marked and photos taken Dave. Red is+  blue is -.  Thinking of making spacer from copper or metal tubing.  Plastic plumbing waste pipe would be ideal but doubt it is fuel proof.

OK  guys ,, have opened the Bosch box . . .exactly as the Doc expected  .  .

as in the same as the colour piccy in Daves post reply #39.

Looking at it I think it will be able to be made to fit and work. . but quite a bit shorter than what was in there . Same basic layout , gauze filter fits on bottom inlet, 2 power leads and outlet on top. May just have to make a spacer  so the centre plastic bit  ( No.8 ) holds the pump in place .

Will have a go tomorrow   . . .cheers all   :y

Having a mare with this  . . . :'( :'( :'(    think I'll go electric next time  ;D ;D ;D
the fuel pump is electric , and that's not working out well  :D

the screen (6 or 7 ) will hold the pump down if the weight of the pump don't  ;)

if it fits in the swirl pot (not too fat) slap it in ,
i imagine the 30-35 mm is well in the movement of the delivery pipe without reducing the flow

I had similar (smaller pump than what was fitted)  walbro ? in tank pump in a picasso , pumped the diesel just fine  :y

"I'll think I'll go electric next time "  . . .I meant electric car  . . as in no petrol to pump   ;D ;D

this is being made far more complex than it needs due to hundreds of part numbers  :D
parts get superseded all the time
the bosch pump is 4 bar ,Lucas one is only 3 bar
the slight difference in length will be taken up by the flexible hose (15,16,17 or 18) clicky

Dave ,its about 30-35 mm shorter at a guess,  if the pump is shorter , then the centre plastic locking ring No.8 in the exploded diagram will not hold the pump in place . It will not be able to push down on to the top of the pump.  Pump sits in No.9 then part no. 8 goes over the top and clips it in .  My original pump seems to be the largest of those three shown , No. 2 I think

I would open the box to compare the pump body with the existing one. They may well be the same, with the difference being the pump casing rather than the pump itself  ;)

Yes doc  . . .so would I  .  .but supplier says he will NOT refund or exchange once the seal on the packing is opened .

But  .  .just thinking  . .F8uk it  , Its only £32

Might help if you post up a good picture of your pump.

Your original part is NLS and superseded, hence I'm wondering if the later part can still be used with the earlier swirl-pot?

Might this be the pump you need, Delphi version.

Hi Enceladus . .apologies, that could well be the one ,  its the right size. i was confused by the outlet having no hole in it , it probably has a bung/cover on it in that photo.  But still cant link that Delphi pump to the Bosch number  :-\ :-\

Seems a bit scarey if your garage have just been replacing parts to try and get it to run, without a code diagnosis first .

But  . . .Just a suggestion . .  have you had the key apart to fit a new battery in the fob just prior to the car not starting ?

There is a tiny " immobiliser chip" that easily falls out of the key fob if you dont know it is there

Without this in place  the car wont start .

Try a second key if you have one , as unlikely you will ever find the lost chip if it HAS been dropped  :'( :'(

ECU failure is not unheard of on omegas due to age now  . . but other more knowledgeable OOF members will advise you further. .

No  thats not it . . .I'm sorry but cant do pics  . . (PC muppet )  But . . I think I have found one that corresponds to the OE

Bosch number .  It is E bay item  233798369125      any thoughts on this might be the one ? :-\ :-\

As regarding trying the later one to see if will fit ,   the supplier wont take it back if I break the seal  on the box to investigate  . .  >:( >:(

the part no. of the original pump  0 580 453 985    comes up as being for a senator on my googaling.  So do I try and find one of those and just order it ?

also going to check the numbers on the Lucas one that Dave found  and posted up   :-\

update :  the Lucas one is the same number as the newly supplied one   ends in 489   :'( :'( :'(

So now gonna search for a pump with this number  0 580 453 985

Supplier says if box is opened they will not exchange or refund. Yet another nightmare of online shopping.
