Car workshop area to rent
« on: 14 August 2013, 16:01:25 »

I am thinking of opening a vehicle workshop with rentable bays, they will all be with car hoists, it will probebly be in Crawley, East sussex on the border with Surrey or the surounding area, I need to know if any of you would be interested in renting a bay to make your repairs. bsaandy

I looked at this a few years back, the insurance was a nightmare on its own and don't get me started on the health and safety.

Good luck to you if you do get it off the ground, get friendly with a local factor as well to help out with parts supplies and also advertise in the classic car mags as well

Cheers
Andy

used to have that at a garage in bletchley 25 yrs ago - rented a bay for 1/2 day + , but only new parts (for brakes etc.) were allowed to be fitted- used it myself for the hydraulic press. But it went - presumably H&S and insurance

I am looking at costs, insurance is high, rental might be 50 pounds for half a day & 100 for a full day, when you think of the cost of labour per hour I think thats not too much, I will be supplying elec, compressed air, ramp, specialist tools & my 37 years of knowledge to help, I am also a fabricator/welder, happy to teach what you need to know to do your job.

If a few members chipped in together it could be a very productive day, given the volume of work we've got through at meets in the past.

That's true!
There's a place near me called 'The Motor Gym' - can't post a link on my phone - but this is exactly the setup you're considering  :y

Seems a good idea , can see why h&s would be a nightmare though . Would use one if it was around here especially the 4 post lift  :y
