Omega 2.5 C6 CDX Woes.................. Any help.
« on: 05 December 2008, 20:03:37 »

Ive bought a 2.5 CDX V6 Manual V plate, it has a couple of issues so thought i would come here for some advise, so any would be greatfully appreciated.

1. Power steering, at low revs there is basically no power steering once above 1,000 rpm it works... any ideas?

2. The individual heat controls are not illuminated? again any ideas?

3. Stereo, it has steering wheel controls and a multi changer in the boot but the head unit is also a cd? when i turn it on the display comes up as safe? and the head unit makes funny noises the steering controls dont seem to do anything? any help again be appreciated

Drives like a dream, and im impressed..! :-)

1...not sure

2...sounds like the bulbs have gone behind it...does it have climate control??

3...doesnt sound right, whats the head unit, presumably a CDC2 in the boot...cant imagine it would be normal to have a CD head unit and a CD changer unit in the boot...

1) Tired PAS pump - solution, replace.
2) Replace bulbs - guide in Maint Guides section
3) Someone has changed the HU. HU needs code entry.

Im new to this...  so bear with me...

Climate control??? it has seperate heater controls for left and right another in the middle for speed and a forth for where you want the wind to go basically..  lol

Stereo looks like a cdr 500 from what ive seen on ebay, cant see it having a single cd in the front and a multi changer in the boot, my old cdx had radio tape infront changer in the back, i expected the same.

1. could be low steering pump reservoir level!

2.could be the bulbs (have a few that work)

3. what chris says basically... you shouldnt have a cd head unit afaik with the cd changer at all.. should be a cassette head like the ccrt700 or the sc804 (like i have) lol!

sorry tb.. egnore my post lol...*bows down* lol

They stopped putting the SC804 in Omegas after about 96-97 Alex lol

Maybe a CCR600?? Unless they were upgraded too in the V reg ones...

Does it have digital controls or manual ones?? Digital will be climate...

Head unit certainly isnt right...but should be easy enough to replace for the right one :)

Easy enough to replace the bulbs so dont worry...

Depending upon which head unit you should have I may well have one here with the code...

to get to the dash bulbs you take the dash off, even in the digital dial/adjusters setup it's very similar to with control knobs...
you need to take the ash tray out first to get it off (if my memory serves me right)

Dont worry Bob just the centre console bit that holds the climate controls in place lol

Removing the ashtray is 3 screws...remove the stereo (which it sounds like you need to do anyway so you can have the correct one in) and then tug on the correct metal bar that holds it all in place...a fairly thick square bar thats behind some of the wiring behind the stereo you pull it down (maybe with the aid of a screw driver) and the whole centre console pops out :)...but do NOT pull the thin metal round bar that runs across there cos its not the one you need and will dislodge! lol
