I agree with the majority... It's likely to be standard servicing, tyres, plugs, air filter, oil & breathers. Even if none of these look drastically bad, improving them all together should make a difference of some sorts.

Other things to check are the timing/mixture. Engine temperature is a good point, a warm engine is an efficient engine as my ol' man used to say  :P

If they throw up nothing then you'll have to do a bit more digging... brakes binding and other stranger things.

Only other thing I would add is bear in mind you can loose about 6mpg in the cold weather! And with a V6 I would 25mpg was a very acceptable figure. My 2.5 Auto used to dip to 18mpg unless I was meticulously careful

.......
35mpg on a decent run is perfectly achievable from a 3.0l.  .....

In 8 yrs I've seen similar from mine once, but that was on an empty motorway at a very steady 75 (in cruise) Even on a trip to Edinburgh & back last week my average mpg only got as far as 30-ish

Yes this has a trip computer but never actually took any notice till now especially since the wife has started using MY CAR...
I should be getting slightly better than the norm as i have has both middle boxes replaced for a single box. it increases power but when taken steady also increases mpg.
Has it dropped since exhaust fitted?  Its not uncommon for 'performance' exhausts to bugger up performance, economy or both.

My 2.5 V6 has recently been serviced, runs like a dream (touch wood) but still get about 20mpg around town.

Can't see why a single box should make any improvements to mpg.  :-\ :-\

If it does improve bhp as you say, that bhp doesn't come from nothing, it needs to take its energy from somewhere ie use more fuel AIMHO  ;) ;)

Yup, a 70mph constant cruise, not using cruise control (its a bit basic on on DBW), can return good results.  UK roads often preclude it, as you always get some tit pulling out in front of you.

But it is perfectly possible ;)

Autos around town are hopeless for mpg

true. but i had the exhaust planned and hand made so yes when u want the power its there at the cost of fuel but for normal driving it sets up better mpg - well it would do

Definitely! If I was of sound mind I should have a Eurobox as most of the driving I/we do is town. But hey I'm a nut case so it is cool!  :y

Do you still have the old exhaust so you can compare mpg's I think you might have 'found' your lost mpg's  ;)
