CDR400 code entry prob...
« on: 21 April 2007, 12:38:17 »

Ok, so silly mistake I Left my ignition on overnight, don't ask me why as I dont know  :(

Jump started the car and off to work I go. Go out to the car at break time and realise that radio is in safe mode. No problem, I know the code! (famous last words) Usual method, hold AS etc...
I enter the code and find that maybe my memory was not what it once was  :(
I try again....no joy  :(

Ok, thats me on 8 SAFE...I aint gonna play around, will wait till I get home

I get home and locate my correct code and try that...as I am trying it I get a beep and now it says 7 SAFE...geez I was having a bad day!!   I stop rushing and go to try again. Now all I get though is 7 SAFE and can't get it to bring up the 4 dashes for me to input the code  :-/

Have I done something wrong? what could I have done?

It definately says 7 SAFE and I definately have the correct code...but it just wont let me input it.

Any suggestion?

There is likely to be a time delay of half an hour or more.....plus you need the ignition on....

Yep.....just checked, heres the detail

After the first two attempts, the waiting time is approx 10 seconds...after this it increases to ten minutes....with each further un-succesful attempt, the waiting time doubles reaching 640 minutes by the 9th attempt...

Is this the waiting time between attempts? or the duration of waiting till it gives you the chance to put the code in? ( as in holding AS)

Thx

between attempts, and ignition needs to stay on. Turning ignition off resets the timer back to zero, so you have to wait the full time again.

Are you sure the code is right?

Yeah, code is definately correct (was just me trying to be clever that couldn't remember it)  :-/

So my understanding now is that the timer resets when I turn the ignition on and I then need to wait for it to time out before trying?
As it is on 7 SAFE I pressume this will not be too long? will trying before this time is up reset it again? or is just ignition linked? (as I have no idea how long to wait before trying hehe)
Going to try after the 10 minute run to work tomorrow (before I turn the ignition off hehe)

Thx guys

The ignition must be on for the entire timeout period, and then the code entered...

TB asked if you put in the correct code.....

I made the same mistake to be honest as on the "Car Pass" on the line I have

Radio Type/Code 4442     C/D 2147

and I was putting in the wrong number in out of the two!! :-[
