kids car seats
« on: 11 August 2016, 19:03:38 »

Good God! What a bewildering choice of car seats there are out there. Grandaughter is virtually spilling out of here first rear facing seat, naively I thought that the silvercross base that we already have would have an older child seat that would just clip onto it ......... it appears not. Though Silver Cross do a seat for £650!!!!!  :o :o :o
The search has begun  :-\ .... I want Isofix fitting  :y

When our granddaughter was born nearly three years ago I was amazed at the prices of child seats, buggies etc. You can spend best part of a grand on some buggies and, as you say, child seats can be very expensive.  :o :o
Obviously we all want the best protection for the little ones but even so that is a lot of money.

... and that's what they prey on

Went into Halfords and all the clown/sales staff could hap on about was the weight of the child .... our grandaughter is already at the max size for her seat ... regardless of her weight

Maxi-Cosi Tobi here, when we changed from rear to forward facing. Got ours from John Lewis...

Before that we had the Peble seat with 'Easybase2' as it all had to be seat belts of course.

Having seen ISO fixed ones, they don't appear significantly different to seat belt secured seats.

Remembering the faff of fastening kid's seats in the back of my Senators & Omega via seat belts when mine were small 25+ yrs ago, I want Isofix fixings ......... but not prepared to spend stupid money

The rear facing seat that clips into an isofix base we use at the moment is so easy to fit & you can't get it wrong

Seatbelt ones not far off, dead simple really. I am biased though as I've got a couple of old bangers with no ISO fix  ;D

I remember the two seats we (the kids) had in the back of the Senators used to lean in towards each other due to the shape of the seats .......

You had a boot ! ? We were tied to the rear bumper and got a sound thrashing if we didn't pick up enough pennies off the road during the journey.  ;D

If I ever have the misfortune to become a granddad there will be no kiddie seats going in my car. My days of driving along while screaming kids  trample sweets & chocolate into the upholstery and then puke up some more all over the place are long gone.
If theres no kiddie seats then I have the perfect excuse why I cant transport them.
My kids inflicted it on me, and I shall sit back and laugh if and when it happens to them.  ;) ;D
