That is good news Opti! 8) 8) :y

Have you had the work done before to 'modify' it after the first scare? ???

No, Lizzie.

We used to run it during the night on cheap electricity, but we stopped when it nearly set fire to the house. Almost dead in our beds. :-X

Ah, that could have been nasty!! :o :o  Thank God you stopped it did not catch fire :y :y

I had mine modified by a Hotpoint engineer, and there is now a green dot on it to confirm it has been done. So I cannot get a new one! ::) ::) :D :D ;)

I've got used to the smell of burning now and it still works. However, we always keep an eye on it and never use it while we sleep.

I could have been killed, Lizzie. Just imagine the loss to this forum...... ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Opti WHO?  :-X

What year was L reg? 74? I must have been 21 when I hired that car, seems a very distant memory  :(

'L' reg ran from 1st August 1972 to 31st July 1973.
Right, I must have been 20 then.

.........perhaps the mighty Imp was a few years old by the time you got your hands on it. You could have been 30 if the Imp was a decade old.
Brand new hire car.

A very smart motor for a young man from up North!  :y

Agreed......no indoor crapper or bath but a brand new car. Lino everywhere.

I imagine they thought you were getting too big for your boots. :)
You forgot about having the old newspaper on the dining table as a cloth. ;)

Hope he wore a mask when he was using that "tornador" thingy.  Could have ended up with something nasty with all that dust flying about.

Passport, visa, bribe money and a lot of luck. ;)

Daughter and son in law visited it when they went to the Ukraine for the euros in 2012. Rather them than me.

Had mine done a few weeks after i bought it, (due to it being the dead of winter when i first got it so too cold to check it worked properly). Guy who tested it said system was empty of refridgerant but system was not leaking. Also pressure wouldn,t settle on test but kept climbing so he had to stop the test. :D Anyway, decided that i would save the planet ::)  and not bother to keep slinging parts at it. So far just open the windows at start up to let the heat out and go from there. :y

Sounds like expansion valve.
Yep griff, thats exactly what he wrote in the report he gave me. :y
