Omega General Help / Re: Opel Omega V6 2.6 Timing Belt
« on: 23 December 2024, 13:02:06 »
An average competent garage mechanic doing it for the first time (and having the correct tools is a must) shouldnt take longer than an absolute maximum of three hours, and thats being generous.
Ive done the job myself on my drive in less than that, and Im far from an expert.
But yes, the specified time interval for belt and tensioners is four years. After that it could last indefinitely or go bang tomorrow.
Its Russian roulette.
Having said all that, mine is actually a couple of months past the four years as I type this.  ;D

Thats why they took £95 from my bank account last week. When I first signed up with them it was about half that.
I think next year I will actually look at the other options, for the first time in at least ten years.

The interval stated by the manufacturer was changed from 8 years to 4 years a very long time ago.  ;)

A lot of Christmas markets in the UK were cancelled due to the fear of this kind of thing happening.
So, we really are dancing to their tune now.  >:(

I'm banned by my place of work for saying publicly what I think on a website that I own.
And that's ok because... ???

What's the difference between standing on your driveway and saying what you think and doing so here?

As long as what you say isn't on work time using work equipment then they can go whistle.

Unless,.of course, that working from home makes your property an extension of company property... In which case you might want to rethink the terms of your employment.
I am not allowed to stand on my driveway and say what I think either, unless it's inline with their policies.

Roll on retirement, I can let it all out then ;D

I would tell your employer that this is the UK, not East Germany in the 1970,s.
There is no financial circumstance that would make me put up with living under that kind of threat, which may be why Im always skint ?  ::)

Well, you folks will insist on going to French France for reason completely beyond me.  ??? :D

The roads actually have some tarmac left on them, for a start, and the drivers know what the overtaking lane is for... ::)

You and I probab;y paid for those roads, which is one reason why we cant afford to fix our own.  ;D

Apparently he is now going to delay local elections from 2025 to 2026 or 27.
Restructuring is the excuse, but the reason is probably they are terrified of being wiped out at the ballot box.

Just been out and had a quick play, checked earth, wiggled some wires, just before planning to use a meter to check ofr 12v along the circuit from the fusebox working towards the lamp cluster.
At some point during the wigglingof  wires, the fogs came on, and no amount of wiggling of wires would make them go off again.
That will do for me. As long as they light up when the MOT man checks them Im happy.
Cant remember ever using them anyway.  ;D
