Oh how we laughed when the first Jap bikes arrived on these shores.  :D

Yep....bikes that would start first kick (or touch of the button) didn't break down or leak oil, were never going to catch on. >:D

My first bike when I was 16 was a Kawasaki AE50, which was a great little bike that had been souped up. I could do nearly 50mph on the flat and could keep up with the Fizzies!  :y

My Dad made me put an old tray under it saying "Bikes always leak oil, and I don't want oil stains everywhere!"  ::)

He was amazed that it didn't leak.  ;D

Brit iron had vertically split engine cases. :-X The nips used horizontally split cases. :y

Even in the 1970's most brit bike design could be traced back the the 1930's......much like the Morris Marina.  >:D ::)

Well if fine engineering ain't broke, don't fix it!  ;D
