Made the oil light on the Bini illuminate whilst negotiating a roundabout... Took a litre and a half to register :-X
I used to work with a bloke that used the oil pressure light as a reminder to check the oil level on his 3 series

mid you the car does think it's 16,500 miles overdue, and  .... .....
My Smart Roadster is 700+ days over due a service according to its dash cluster. It's only done a few hundred miles since its last service though  :-[

I do.  :)  With only a 190,000 miles it's barely run in. He got a bargain.  :y
Did he? How much of a bargain?   >:D

A helluva bargain.   ::)

Yes well.... Hence the undecided emoji Ronny.  :-\

There's an ongoing cost of living crisis though, which will only get worse with this abject Labour government, so can't justify keeping two cars anymore.  ::)

Serviced the Bini.

Started the programming for the retrofits on the Proper car.
All done except a slight snafu updating the software on the instrument cluster bricked it >:(

Fortunately I had previously bought a second hand unit from an S320CDI that had night vision, so that was fortunately plug and play, although it needs recoding from the V6 diesel to the V8 petrol and the mileage retrieving from elsewhere in the CAN network.

The actual programming was straightforward enough, if time consuming, and was mostly box ticking in a couple of modules once I had dug around to find them.

Everything that I have added works perfectly, although the remote boot closing needs a VIN recode and the Night Vision needs calibrating once I have got the correct windscreen fitted.

Also got the rear windows working again via a software update. Drivers side one has a reversed switch, so that needs some further investigation.

All in all a productive afternoon, although bricking the cluster was a bit of a kick in the 'nads :-[

Finally got sme time to cobble together something resembling the inner arches and inner corners. Slapped a load of zinc primer over it all. Got a lot of it up my arms  nose and over the dog, as is the rules.

Got a coolant leak on the Omega. Seems to be coming from somewhere around the V and dripping from behind the cable tray at the top of the cambelt cover.
Plenum off, fanimold off, sandwich plate off. Traces of pink around the whole area, front to back. Damp at the front near the stat and dry towards the rear.
Doesnt really confirm anything.
Drilled a hole in an old coolant cap, intending to fit a schrader valve to it then pressurise the system.
Dont have any valves. Should have some but cant find any. :(
Cobbled up my easibleed and used that to pressurise the system but it didnt cause any coolant to squirt out, so can only assume it didnt pressurise it enough.
Although it seemed to be putting a fair bit of pressure into the header tank. :-\
Will see if I can pop to somewhere tomorrow to pick up some valves and try again.
Failing that, Im going to be scratching my head and wondering what to do next.  ::)

You only need to pressurise it to the running pressure, which is about 1bar. I'd buy a large bicycle innertube, cut it opposite the valve and clamp the new ends over the thermostat and return tubes. Pressurise with a bike pump.

At least, that's what I used to do until a proper test set came my way:

After chasing corroded connections and a faulty battery charger (only showing 12v ) I got the VW panel turning over, new fuel in tank and cleaned the points. It runs now!! Just need to prep it for sale so I can finish the Omegaustin hot rod.
