Insurance Renewal Time
« on: 22 April 2023, 12:50:37 »

It is coming to that time of year again.

I have been with the RAC insurance for the last 2 years and just recieved next months renewal price.

Your renewal price: £219.87
Last year's total: £201.05

Got to be honest I am surprised with the price. :y

I then had a look on the comparison sites and found I can get cover for as low as £156 with Esure (I think it was) ::)

Yep.

House insurance quote 35% higher than last year.

One phone call later 5% cheaper than last year, and 20% less than any other company. :y

Following my trip to Cornwall last month, I'm expecting car insurance hikes, as everybody had forgotten how to drive any distance, and failed to keep in on the black strips.

It was every 10 - 20 miles some moron had parked into the central reservation of boot of another car....

So true :y

Years ago there were 2 HHH (Hill House Hammond) insurance offices in Sheffield, I used to love bringing the price down to see who was coving the policy that year.

Admiral when I was on the multi car policy I found that the price just got cheaper and cheaper depening on the country the adviser was in.

These days its comparison sites.  At the end of the day its the price and cover options that matter and not the sales service offered.

That sounds quite high, but obviously don't know your circumstances.  Mine has generally gone down every year since batflu, and I'm paying under under £400 for 2, business use, protected NCD, blah blah.

Another thing I realised was the time of year the premium was paid.

I used to renew in December, but a change to May brought the premium down by 40% .

Change of address 14 years put my policy up 26% simply because of the lower postcode address.

So many things define the renewal premium (Mainly the sales commision - hence comparison sites getting cheaper all the time)

I have all the extra's  I opted for the £100 excess in case of a claim (£250 made no difference)
I pay in full - not monthly
Max NCB
I Anual mileage set at 2000 as I dont use the car that much but higher values dont change it too much.
62 next week :-\
Social, domestic and pleasure - fully comp.

I thought £156 was a reasonble price.  £3 a week  :y

Skruntie lives up north. ::) ::) ::) ;)

Because I hit 70 next month, and live in Barnsley, my renewal was 40% higher this year. Around £400. I just let it renew, life's too short.

Time to leave the stage with a cheery wave as the world moves on. :-* :-* :-*

But you are a retired old duffer with time on your hands and just a  whippet to walk.

You have plenty of time to pick up the phone or find the best deal on the meercats, while enjoying a beer. :) >:D

Martin Lewis reckons 3 weeks before renewal is the best time to renew ....
