Not a fan of Nankang ditchfinders myself :-X

In that price range I'd be looking at Accellera Alpha's or Neuton NT5000 (only available from Neo Bros either ebay or direct) and get them fitted locally. I've had both these on Omega's (although the Neuton's are currently fitted to the rear and first time) and they're a reasonable compromise IMO. I'd certainly be tempted to try the Neuton's on the front too as (so far) they seem to be pretty good :-\

But tyres are an area where you really shouldn't scrimp ;)

As an aside, the Neuton's are also M+S rated ;)

it's currently wearing cheap ass admirals....  and actually they've been kind of okay ....   they were on it when i bought it, and were not new then.....  and i've had it a year,  done another 10-12,000 and they're still , just barely,  legal....

but seeing as she's having all new shocks and new rear springs.....  and new wishbones, and new drop links, and new rear bushes.....

new tyres would only be fair...

when you find out how much new original part rear springs on an MV6 estate cost...  , you'll know why i'm trying to find a balance between cost and quality....

even from AndyC , they're still eye watering

(but the shocks are very reasonable....  much cheaper than i thought...  )

just stuck a set of Nexen N6000's on some 17"s destined for an Elite, not driven them much yet, but so far they are quiet and smooth, grip is fine, although not pushed them yet. They were £90 a corner  :y

Indeed... Probably be around £300 by the time you've had them fitted and, like I say, for a "budget" tyre I am impressed (so far) ;)

Re springs, if you want to keep that specific ride hight and quality, there really is no alternative to oe from vx. I guess there simply aren't enough mv6 lsc cars on the road to warrant aftermarket manufacturers making them.

Re tyres Alphas seem a popular choice at that end of the market.

Yep, although I'm leaning towards these Neuton's as a better choice than the Alpha's ;)

Really need to get them swapped onto the front to test the stopping power of them before I'd give an all out recommendation though :y

alphas at 60 quid delivered per donut..

not bad....   is there anyone with an opinion on whether the neutons are better or worse than the alpha??

 , any more suggestions...??

once all the work is done, and the MOT secured....  i will probably have a trip to WIM in mind.... as long as they're not offended by the budget tyres.  i'd like to buy them from them.... but they're not really near enough , bearing in mind i probably need these for the MOT

leaning towards the neutons....

i'm no miss daisy either.....

although more sedate than in past years, thanks to the price of fuel, and having a clean license for the first time in 10 years...

TBH, with the difference in price we're talking about I'd have a (slight) "gamble" on the Neuton's. The ones on the rear of mine are certainly sure footed when thrown about and seem to be holding the road well.

Like I said, I haven't got them on the front (Alpha's on the front) yet but on paper they are the better tyre of the 2 ;)
